Job Description
Manage, conduct and lead education and training programs consistent with the company’s business strategy for field service, safety, sales, and business functions. Emphasis of this position is on the development, implementation, and administration for human performance development of all company associates but with a focus on field services. Key responsibilities include managing training efficacy, monitoring training KPIs, and ensuring the company education and training programs meet all current and future business needs.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate company resources to deliver effective and informative education and training for field service, and sales team members on power system apparatus, preventive maintenance and testing, engineering, safety, and sales in accordance with the InterNational Electrical Testing Association (NETA), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and other applicable industry standards. Provide training on company platforms and business systems for office and back-office team members.
- Provide oversight and management of education and training resources including instruction, classrooms, lab areas, and associated equipment.
- Coordinate with and utilize Vertiv Learning and Development resources as applicable.
- Model and enforce company safety guidelines at all times.
- Manage and enforce classroom conduct in accordance with published policies.
- Quality Control. Perform course audits to ensure all training delivery and content meets or exceeds company expectations.
- Provide on-site support to assist with Field Services, Sales, Commercial Training, or Business Operations education and training to support business needs.
- Work with Vertiv Learning and Development to manage LMS (Vertiv Learning) support needs.
- Ensure classrooms and training equipment are maintained and in good working condition.
- Safety and test equipment are in proper working order.
- Tools, spare parts, and lab equipment are in proper working order.
- Develop, Manage, and Maintain course materials.
- Assess training needs and certification requirements.
- Organize, develop, and maintain presentation content and associated materials.
- Collaborate with company and industry Subject Matter Experts to develop and write training documentation and ensure content is based on the latest and most relevant industry standards.
- Utilize computer-based and multimedia curriculum and technology for design, development, and delivery of materials to maximize student learning experiences.
- Review training materials for compliance with training requirements and ensure training material relevance per established revision schedule.
- Identify best mode of delivery (online/self-paced/virtual/classroom/lab) based on content and complexity.
- Incorporate safety into training where applicable.
- Develop and maintain training assessments.
- Coordinate and oversee 3rd party training such as Megger, Valence, Thermography, etc.
- NETA Certification Advancement
- Provide support for employee NETA certification advancement through in-house course development and improvement.
- Provide guidance to NETA employees on certification advancement.
- Communicate with managers and supervisors on NETA employee training and development needs.
- On-the-Job Training (OJT) Program
- Continuous support and development of the company’s Qualification Card platform.
- Track employee progress and development.
- Identify remedial training needs.
- Identify new technology training needs.
- Identify advanced training needs.
- Practice continuous improvement in all aspects of the job.
- Review and incorporate student feedback.
- Implement lessons learned as applicable.
- Attend professional development training and conferences to remain current on industry standards.
- Complete all administrative tasks accurately and in a timely manner.
- Turn in expense reports, trip reports, time cards, etc., accurately and on time.
- Complete student evaluations and feedback accurately and on time.
- Oversee required training supplies and materials required to enhance instruction programs.

Education & Certifications:
- Graduate Engineer (BSEE) (advanced degrees such as MSEE and MBA preferred) with a minimum of 6 years in related electrical power field engineering and training, or graduate of applicable electrical technical school or military equivalent and a minimum of 10 years in related electrical power field engineering training experience preferred.
Requirements:
- Experience/Knowledge in adult learning methods, emotional intelligence, 6D’s, and The Kirkpatrick Learning Model.
- NETA, NFPA, IEEE, IAEI and/or other professional organization involvement preferred.
- Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code and various industry standards, such as OSHA, NETA, and NFPA.
- Strong background and experience in all types of switchgear and equipment testing.
- Thorough knowledge of electrical apparatus testing with a strong theoretical understanding of electrical power systems and good aptitude for problem evaluation.
- Exceptional writing & verbal communication skills with an emphasis on presentation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work well with others, use sound judgment and possess good technical, teaching and business knowledge.
- Excellent organizational & time management skills.
- Possesses a positive attitude and flexibility in a rapidly changing environment.
- Detail oriented and self-motivated with the ability to work without direct supervision.
- Excellent PC skills including all Microsoft Office products and web-based technologies.
- Valid driver's license.
- Make public speaking presentations as assigned.
- Periodic travel to various training sites and customer locations required.
- While performing duties of the above jobs, the associate is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools or other components; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk, hear and smell. The associate frequently is required to sit and climb or balance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must have ability to regularly lift at least 50 pounds.
