Job Description

PURPOSE
This position reports to the Director of Logistics and is responsible for assisting with the establishment, implementation, maintenance, education and enforcement of all Trade Compliance policies and procedures in cooperation with US teams to establish best practices. Manage Trade Compliance projects within the scope of assigned responsibility and provide subject matter expertise concerning application of trade compliance laws and regulations across corporate policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Manage assigned projects within scope, cost and schedule using available project management tools and systems.
• Design, implement and maintain a global customs program, policies, procedures, and controls to ensure company-wide compliance in accordance with guidelines of the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and other relevant agencies.
• Find opportunities for cost savings including but not limited to classification, valuation, trade programs and duty drawback vs. FTZ
• Develop and maintain current expertise in trade compliance laws and regulations.
• Review corporate processes to ensure they are following trade laws and regulations, and support efforts to bring corporate processes in line with legal, regulatory and policy requirements.
• Analyze hardware, software and technology to ensure accurate trade classifications.
• Identify areas of compliance risk and develop risk assessments and compliance plans.
• Conduct trade compliance training and support development of new training materials and programs.
• Participate in audits and factual investigations concerning export / import compliance matters.
• Applies knowledge of company procedures and policies on a daily basis.
• Ensures the company compliance with US and Canada customs and regulations.
• Management of the Duty Drawback Process with US Customs.
• Management of SMC’s (Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism) C-TPAT certification

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Physical demands require the person to regularly stand, walk, and use hands to handle objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms.
• The work environment will expose employee to the following elements: Noise, Heat, Cold, Dust, Oil, and Grease (70% of work hours).
• The work environment is an office/professional environment (30% of work hours).
• This is a “hands-on” management position in a “team” environment.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Experience
• Managing US Customs compliance issues
• Experience with shipping software, including Flagship, and CRM automation
• Working knowledge of all relevant US Trade regulations such as Export Administration Regulations (EAR), International Traffic Arms Regulations (ITAR), USMCA and Customs regulations.

Educational Background
• Bachelor's degree
• Strong knowledge of import and export compliance
• 5-10 years of experience in Production, Distribution or Manufacturing supervision
• Strong time management skills, and Excellent communication skills in both oral and written form
• Strong problem solving and ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high degree of accuracy
• Advanced computer skills preferred: Excel, Word and Access
