As Manager - Tractor Assembly, you will oversee the entire tractor assembly line to ensure consistent production output aligned with scheduled plans. You will be responsible for maintaining zero hold-ups at the end of the production line by proactively identifying and resolving quality-related issues promptly and effectively. Collaborative engagement with support departments such as Stores, Maintenance, Quality Control, and other relevant teams will be crucial for swift resolution of operational challenges.
You will monitor and ensure timely closure of Inspection Report (IR) related issues through coordination with responsible agencies. Leading implementation activities for new models, Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), and Engineering Release (ER) on the tractor line will require rigorous documentation efforts including creation and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), manifests, and On-the-Job Training (OJT) materials.
Daily Work Management (DWM) of respective shifts, including all Productivity, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Safety, and Morale (PQCDSM) parameters, will be under your purview to ensure operational excellence and prompt corrective actions. You will drive the achievement of Akraman targets such as cost savings, Overall Improvement Targets (OIT), Critical Improvement Targets (CIT), and quality improvement initiatives like QC stories.
Addressing and resolving challenges relating to Stockyard management, Gate Audit compliance, Daily Production Reports (DPR), Card Rate Per Hour (RPH), and minimizing line stoppages will form key deliverables. Ensuring compliance with standards such as Toyota Production System (TS), Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series (OHSAS), Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), and Advanced Factory Systems Management (AFSM) during audits will be critical.
You will monitor and drive reduction in consumption of consumables and stores items on the assembly line, fostering cost efficiencies. Collaborating with Industrial Engineering Experts (IEE), you will aim to resolve line balancing issues timely, optimizing manpower and workflow.
Active participation in innovation programs is expected, aiming for maximum innovative projects from your department, categorized as A+, A, and B priority levels. You will champion continuous improvement initiatives and nurture a culture of operational excellence.
Training, mentoring, and developing team members in accordance with organizational needs and competencies will be vital, supporting both individual and collective growth and aligning with corporate values and strategic objectives.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical foundation, supported by qualifications such as a Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical or Automobile Engineering. Alternatively, a Diploma in Mechanical or Automobile Engineering combined with relevant professional experience will also be considered.
Graduates should have comprehensive knowledge of mechanical systems, manufacturing processes, and quality assurance principles to effectively manage tractor assembly operations. Familiarity with engineering documentation, audit protocols, and continuous improvement methodologies is essential.
Certifications or additional training in production management, quality systems (such as ISO/TS standards), occupational health and safety, and lean manufacturing principles will be advantageous and support successful job performance.
Candidates should bring 3 to 7 years of cumulative experience in a manufacturing environment, specifically within automotive or heavy machinery assembly sectors. Experience managing assembly lines or production units with responsibility for meeting stringent quality, efficiency, and safety standards is highly desirable.
Demonstrated capability in coordinating cross-functional teams, problem-solving production challenges, and driving continuous improvements in manufacturing workflows is expected. Prior involvement in new product introductions, process optimizations, and compliance audits will strengthen candidacy.
Exposure to implementing and sustaining operational excellence frameworks such as TPM, 5S, and OHSAS would be beneficial. Experience with handling audits and maintaining safety standards is important for ensuring seamless factory operations.
Critical experience requirements include proven leadership in a manufacturing assembly setting with a strong focus on tractor or agricultural machinery assembly lines. Candidates must have experience in executing zero-defect production targets and effectively managing quality control issues without impacting production schedules.
Strong expertise in coordinating with maintenance, quality, stores, and industrial engineering teams to promptly resolve production and infrastructure concerns is essential. Candidates should have successfully led new model launches, including Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and Engineering Release (ER), demonstrating comprehensive project management and documentation skills.
Hands-on experience in monitoring and managing Daily Work Management (DWM) systems, tracking PQCDSM performance metrics, and driving corrective action plans is critical. Familiarity with cost reduction initiatives such as Akraman targets and experience in consumable and store item optimisation will add significant value.
Additionally, candidates must demonstrate participation in innovation initiatives, proficiently leading or contributing to projects categorized within strategic innovation tiers. Experience in training and developing multi-disciplinary assembly teams to achieve operational excellence and enhance skillsets is essential.
Knowledge and practical understanding of regulatory and quality standards including TS, OHSAS, TPM, and AFSM to support audit preparedness and quality system adherence are mandatory attributes for this role.
