CVG Trim Systems & Components is seeking a highly experienced and customer-focused Manager, Technical Solutions – Trim Systems to support the continued growth and strategic expansion of our division.

This role is designed to serve as a customer-facing technical authority and strategic growth partner, combining deep expertise in plastics and injection molding with consultative business development leadership. Approximately 60% of this role will focus on technical solution development and application support, with 40% dedicated to strategic account growth and new business development.

The Technical Solutions Manager will engage directly with engineering, sourcing, and operations leaders at customer organizations to understand complex application challenges, provide immediate technical guidance, and collaboratively develop innovative, manufacturable solutions. This individual must be able to confidently address technical questions in real time and translate customer needs into commercially viable, value-driven solutions—without reliance on engineering follow-up for foundational technical direction.

If you are a technically grounded industry expert who thrives at the intersection of engineering and commercial strategy, you will excel at CVG.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Technical Solutions Leadership (Approximately 60%)

  • Serve as the primary technical expert in customer-facing meetings related to plastics, injection molding, materials, tooling, and manufacturability.
  • Lead diagnostic discussions to identify root causes, design constraints, cost drivers, and performance requirements.
  • Provide immediate technical guidance regarding material selection, tooling strategy, DFM considerations, tolerance feasibility, and process optimization.
  • Translate customer application challenges into technically sound and commercially viable manufacturing solutions.
  • Collaborate closely with internal Engineering, Operations, and Program Management teams to validate feasibility and accelerate response timelines.
  • Identify opportunities for design-for-manufacturability improvements that enhance cost, quality, and production efficiency.
  • Influence early-stage product design discussions to position TS&C as a strategic manufacturing partner.
  • Participate in prototype reviews, production readiness discussions, and technical risk assessments.
  • Serve as the Voice of the Customer in new product development and capability expansion initiatives.

Strategic Business Development (Approximately 40%)

  • Develop and expand strategic relationships across engineering, sourcing, operations, and executive leadership within customer organizations.
  • Identify whitespace and growth opportunities within existing accounts while cultivating new target accounts.
  • Lead and support RFQ strategy, solution positioning, and proposal development in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Quantify and communicate value propositions including cost savings, performance improvements, and operational efficiencies.
  • Contribute to annual sales forecasting and profit objectives.
  • Represent Trim Systems & Components at key industry tradeshows and technical forums.
  • Monitor market trends, competitive activity, and evolving customer needs to protect and expand revenue.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Plastics, Manufacturing preferred) or equivalent technical experience.
  • Experience: Minimum 7+ years of experience in injection molding, plastics manufacturing, tooling design, applications engineering, or technical sales within the plastics industry.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Demonstrated ability to serve in a customer-facing technical role with independent decision-making capability.
  • Deep knowledge of injection molding processes, tooling development, material selection, and DFM principles.
  • Experience translating complex technical concepts into commercially compelling solutions.
  • Proven track record of driving revenue growth through consultative, solution-oriented engagement.
  • Strong technical credibility and ability to confidently address customer engineering questions in real time.
  • Ability to travel frequently (50% or more – North America).
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate business strategy into tactical execution.
  • Skilled at engaging multiple levels of customer hierarchy across Engineering, Operations, Sourcing, and Executive leadership.
  • Demonstrated success influencing cross-functional internal teams.
  • Strong financial acumen with the ability to assess margin impact and opportunity profitability.
  • Skilled negotiator with disciplined pipeline management capability.
