Our CPG – GO/UP team is looking for multiple Managers, Technical Services to join the team! You will manage, coordinate and support the planning, execution, and delivery of System Safety Assurance (SSA) activities for complex rail infrastructure programs. In this role, you will provide advanced technical expertise, cross-functional coordination, and professional judgment to ensure that system designs, interfaces, and operational changes meet all applicable safety requirements, standards, and assurance processes.
What will I be doing?
Manage end-to-end SSA processes across assigned projects, ensuring activities align with the SSA strategy, internal standards, regulatory expectations, and project delivery milestones.
Manage the development and maintenance of System SSA documentation, including System Safety Plans, Hazard Logs, Safety Requirements Specifications, and Verification & Validation (V&V) plans.
Support Delivery Teams by planning and coordinating SSA activities within project schedules, identifying risks, tracking progress, and resolving issues related to safety assurance deliverables.
Review technical designs and manage interdisciplinary interface inputs to ensure compatibility, integration, and alignment with safety requirements.
Lead documentation preparation for Delivery Teams with regards to asset handover to the Asset Management & Maintenance (AM&M) team, ensuring safety responsibilities are clearly documented and transitioned.
Influence delivery partners, technical specialists, and internal stakeholders to ensure SSA requirements are met, and submissions are completed at the required level of quality.
Oversee the development of quality assurance metrics of contractor and supplier performance and review/approves corrective action plans for performance deficiencies.
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
University Degree level or equivalent in related field (e.g. Electrical, Civil, Mechanical or Systems Engineering)
Demonstrated experience working on multi-disciplinary rail, transit or infrastructure projects, Engineering experience of delivering complex infrastructure or transportation projects, System Safety Assurance or similar disciplines and delivery integration experience.
Professional Engineering Certificate (P. Eng), INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) Certification or PMI Project Management Professional (PMP) certification would be a strong asset.
Experience related to Railway Engineering, Systems Engineering and System Safety Assurance
Knowledge of Requirements Management, Verification & Validation activities, System Safety Assurance and their use on railway projects.
Strong understanding of industry standards and regulations (CMREA, ISO 15288, and EN 50126).
Good understanding of innovative methods of project delivery, staging, planning, testing and commissioning.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to present complex and / or new ideas with clarity and simplicity, with the ability to effectively liaise with diverse stakeholders within the organization and on construction sites.
Good understanding of commuter railway systems delivery, including electrification, track, stations, terminals, maintenance of systems, and related storage yards.
Broad-based knowledge of theories, principles, and practices of multidisciplinary engineering (civil, architectural, electrical, signals and systems, mechanical, fire safety, drainage, etc.) design and construction.
Knowledge of rules and regulations established by Transport Canada (TC).
Highly developed problem-solving skills to analyze issues and provide solutions during the whole project lifecycle.
