We are now looking for a Technical Sales Manager to support UPM Specialty Materials' business in the Americas.

You will collaborate closely with customers and cross-functional teams to address technical challenges, develop customer-focused solutions, and support paper projects from initial concept through commercialization. You’ll also build strong relationships across the value chain, leverage market insights to anticipate emerging trends, and help identify opportunities that drive innovation and sustainable growth. What you will do

  • Focus on understanding customer needs and provide them with technical expertise and advice.

  • Foster relationships with customers and external collaborators - become a trusted partner and build influence.

  • Work closely with the sales team to identify, develop and close new business opportunities.

  • Provide paper converting and application expertise internally to sales teams, and customer service and externally to customers on-site when appropriate.

  • Handle customer remarks and claims whenever Customer Service or Operations need technical support.

  • Actively participate in customer projects and innovation - document activity and progress.
    Screen assigned customer inquiries and assess them for initial 'fit' to our paper portfolio.

  • Participate in trade associations and technical conferences related to target market opportunities, share information internally about the latest industry solutions and technologies.
    Closely cooperate with and support the product and technology development team.

  • Act as a link between customer and production sites in solving technically complex cases and support the overall quality level improvement of the mills.

  • Monitor and report on industry trends and enhance company intelligence.

Who you are

  • You have relevant commercial degree/education and technical understanding of complex products

  • You have proven history in a customer facing role, ideally in a B-to-B environment or technical sales capacity.

  • You have sales skills, product, application and process knowledge and experience of the paper industry and market.

  • You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • You are commercially minded and excel at networking with others

  • You are familiar with working in matrix organization

  • You are decisive and results oriented

  • You are agile in the face of change

  • Spanish language skills are preferred

Salary range from 105 000 to 142 000 USD / year based on qualifications and experience
