Reporting to the Vice President Tax Minerals Australia, this role leads the Corporate Tax portfolio within Group Tax, with responsibility for Australian direct tax compliance, reporting, and consolidation in a large listed multinational company.
The role also has accountability for the Minerals Australia Coal portfolio, providing strategic tax support to BHP’s operational assets.
You will lead a high-performing team of senior tax professionals, requiring strong people leadership and the ability to operate effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will drive delivery across large-scale tax reporting and compliance programs, while also shaping outcomes through high-quality technical advice and commercial insight.
The position requires deep experience managing Australian corporate tax obligations at scale, including tax effect accounting, and a demonstrated ability to navigate complex technical issues while maintaining a strong focus on risk management and governance.
As a senior member of the team, you will act as a thought leader on tax policy and regulatory developments, interpreting emerging changes and assessing their impact on the BHP Group—particularly in relation to capital decisions, funding and broader business strategy.
The role involves engagement with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, including senior business leaders, other functional teams and regulators. Success in the role requires the ability to communicate complex tax matters clearly and succinctly, and to influence outcomes across both technical and commercial environments.
