Job Description

If you live in Australia or New Zealand, you’ve likely heard of AMP. But at a time when society is changing, we are too. We’re now a nimbler business with new leadership and thinking.

For us, these are exciting times. There’s a real potential for big thinkers to help us redefine what financial services could be. And turn our legacy into something even more positive and powerful for the future.

Help people create their tomorrow, while you create yours

We help people with their banking, super, retirement and finances. Through upturns, downturns, recessions, and major life transitions. Every day, we help people see and make more of their financial potential, so that they can create their tomorrow. And we’ve been doing it for over 170 years.

If we do our job well, we genuinely add to the prosperity of our country and its people.

This role provides essential analytical and operational support to the AMP Group Tax function, focusing on data integrity, tax governance and tax compliance processes. It supports the senior team in delivering accurate, timely and well-documented tax outcomes consistent with the ATO's Justified Trust expectations.

This role supports corporate tax compliance, reporting and governance activities, while driving continuous improvement initiatives across tax processes, technology platforms, data analytics and AI-enabled solutions.

How are you going to make an impact

  • Support data collection, reconciliations and preparation for tax compliance activities, including tax provisioning and financial reporting.
  • Maintain the Group Tax compliance tracker, SOP repository and tax governance materials in line with ATO Justified Trust expectations and AMP's Tax Risk Management Framework.
  • Assist with financial analysis and operate tax and reporting tools (Power BI, CCH Integrator, Thomson Reuters OneSource) and support ad-hoc projects.
  • Drive process automation and AI-enabled operational improvements across the Group Tax function.
  • Contribute to processing documentation, SOP development and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Prepare supporting materials, briefings and communications under senior guidance for Audit Committee, Board, and external advisor engagements.

What you will bring to the role

  • Recognised tertiary qualifications in Business, Commerce, Accounting and/or Law from an Australian university (or equivalent overseas qualification).
  • Progress towards CA, CPA, CTA or other tax-specific professional qualifications.
  • Solid understanding of Australian tax principles and financial accounting fundamentals.
  • Excellent quantitative and analytical capability, with high attention to detail and the ability to handle, reconcile and assure the integrity of large, multi-source data sets in a structured compliance environment.
  • Experience with financial and accounting tax technology tools, such as CCH Tax Integrator, Thomson Reuters OneSource, or similar platforms (including Power BI for data visualisation and analysis).
  • Demonstrated experience with, or strong openness to embracing, AI technologies to support data analysis, automation, research and process efficiency.
  • Exposure to corporate tax or financial services environments would be well regarded.

Qualifications in STEM disciplines, Financial Mathematics, Quantitative Finance, Business Analytics, Data Analytics or Data Science would be advantageous.

Who you are

You have exceptional data discipline, accuracy and attention to detail, with the ability to build and maintain robust reconciliations and audit trails. You bring a strong understanding of Australian tax compliance processes and ATO Justified Trust expectations and are committed to delivering high-quality outcomes in a structured and regulated environment.

You have excellent English language communication skills (written and verbal), with the ability to produce accurate, professional work and interact effectively with team members and stakeholders. Collaborative, accountable and curious, you enjoy working as part of a small, high-performing team and are motivated to continuously develop your technical knowledge and capabilities.

In fact, most of what makes AMP such a welcoming, enjoyable place to work are our people. Wherever you go, you’ll find moments to connect, feel valued and do meaningful work.

Whether it’s through our first-class leaders who are invested in you and your success. Through year-round opportunities to volunteer, fundraise and give back to the community. Or in the everyday challenges you face as we work together to strengthen this great organisation. Challenges that will stretch you, amplify your potential and compound the impact you have.

We’re dedicated to fostering inclusion, diversity, and a warm feeling of belonging at AMP. It sparks creativity, ignites innovation, and turns up the dial on the quality of our decisions and performance. Don’t procrastinate! We review applications when we get them, and if we discover the ideal candidate, we may close the role earlier than the advertised close date.
