Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Manager Engineering, Systems Engineering 2 to join our team of individuals within our Systems Engineering organization supporting the Multi-Domain Command & Control (MDC2) Business Unit. The position will be in Melbourne, FL. This leadership position will be full-time in the office with minimum travel.

The manager will lead a section of up to 15 data and software configuration analysts who support a portfolio of domestic and international contracts. The team operates across multiple security classification networks and is responsible for the end to end lifecycle of configuration data. Travel is minimal; the role is office based.

Team Responsibilities:

  • Manage software configuration for multiple releases across differing classification levels.
  • Support data transfer activities between networks of varying security classifications.
  • Review and validate documentation against CDRL DD Form-1423 requirements.
  • Create Supplier Requirements Documents (SRD) from supplier statements of work and champion them through the change board approval process.
  • Facilitate and lead Configuration Control Boards (CCB) and Technical Review Boards (TRB).
  • Administer change control processes, ensuring all modifications are recorded per program policy.
  • Track change package lifecycles from initiation through closure, confirming complete implementation and updated records.
  • Conduct configuration audits for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support the development, integration, and maintenance of Configuration Management (CM) and Data Management tools.
  • Generate configuration status accounting reports and metrics to monitor data management performance.

Program Execution:

  • Ensure contractual deliverables are met on time and within budget.
  • Provide day to day technical guidance and, when needed, perform hands on tasks.
  • Oversee the planning, scheduling, execution, and delivery of contract and supplier data requirement documentation.

  • Align staffing resources with program demand, handling recruitment, onboarding, and workforce planning.
  • Drive performance management, including regular feedback, goal setting, and career development.
  • Mentor and develop talent, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must have a Bachelors in STEM and 9 years of systems engineering or configuration management experience or Masters in STEM and 7 years of systems engineering or configuration management experience.
  • Proven experience managing software/configuration data across multiple security classifications.
  • Strong understanding of configuration management processes (CM B, CM P, CM S).
  • Familiarity with CDRL documentation, DD Form-1423, and supplier requirement flows.
  • Familiar with EIA-649-1, MIL-HDBK-61, or GEIA-859
  • Experience with configuration control tools (e.g., IBM Rational ClearCase, Git, Sherpa, or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of data transfer safeguards for cross domain environments.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with senior stakeholders, suppliers, and auditors.
  • Demonstrated skill in facilitating change board meetings and driving consensus.Strong analytical mindset for metrics generation and status reporting.
  • A final, adjudicated Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance and PAR as required by the program.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A final, adjudicated Top Secret clearance and ability to obtain PAR as required by the program.
  • Master’s degree (or higher) in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Management, or a related field.
  • Certifications such as CMMI-Level-3, ITIL, or CSPM.
  • Experience with Agile/Scaled Agile frameworks in a highly regulated environment.
  • Prior work on multi domain command and control systems or similar mission critical platforms.
  • Proven track record of process improvement initiatives that reduced cycle time or increased data integrity compliance.

Primary Level Salary Range: $139,100.00 - $208,700.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
