Position Summary
Reporting to the Director, the Manager, Supply Planning is responsible for leading the supply planning function to ensure optimal product availability, inventory management, production alignment, and customer service performance across the business. This role partners closely with Demand Planning, Operations, Procurement, Logistics, Sales, and Finance to balance service, cost, inventory, and operational efficiency.
Key Accountabilities:
• Oversee the development of Master Production Schedules (MPS), ensuring all relevant constraints are considered, including line capacity, labour availability, batch sizes, run rates, bottlenecks, and planned downtime;
• Influence and optimize planning parameters and assumptions, including production cycle times, sequencing, demand volatility, changeovers, throughput, inventory targets, stock-building strategies, and warehouse constraints;
• Operate effectively in a high-volatility environment, maintaining composure and decision quality amid frequent changes in demand, supply constraints, and operational disruptions;
• Respond effectively to unplanned downtime, by quickly assessing the projected impact, understanding root causes, and developing practical recovery plans to restore supply while minimizing service and cost impacts;
• Play a strategic role in the analysis, interpretation, and communication of production line and network capacity, including identifying risks and escalation requirements;
• Lead Supply Reviews as part of the monthly Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process, ensuring alignment between demand, supply, and operational constraints;
• Partner closely with Demand Planning, Sales, Customer Service, Engineering and other business functions to understand key customer requirements and support the execution of promotional and commercial plans;
• Develop contingency plans and scenario analyses to support new product launches, product discontinuations, line start-ups, and other major operational changes;
• Provide direct leadership and supervision to production schedulers, including prioritization, coaching, performance management, and ensuring consistent application of planning standards and best practices.
Requirements:
• 5+ years of experience in production planning/ Master production scheduling/ capacity management in FMCG companies;
• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, Engineering, or related field;
• Experience in CPG, food manufacturing, packaged goods, or a fast-paced manufacturing environment is considered an asset;
• Intermediate to advanced Excel skills;
• Previous leadership or people management experience preferred;
• ERP / planning system experience (SAP, Oracle, AS400, etc.);
• Experience with supporting business integration activities
• Solid analytical and problem-solving abilities;
• Comfortable working in a plant environment, 20% of travel to London and Canartic plants
Hiring Range: CAD $84,070 - $120,220
Bonus: This position is eligible for a bonus up to 10% of base salary subject to the plan terms and conditions.
Please note that the expected hiring range provided is derived from a group of like roles within Sofina. The final offer amount for this role will be dependent on geographical region, applicable experience, skillset of the candidate and internal equity.
