The Manager of Strategic Supports for Multilingual Education (MLE) programs leads and develops a team of specialists who provide direct school-based support to Instructional Leadership Teams (ILTs) Provides expertise and leadership to the Multilingual Education (MLE) central department and MLE school-based operations in the area of program implementation, instructional systems (ELD, ICLD, bilingual programs), and legal requirements, as well as oversee school support for program implementation (MLE Service System.) Manages through Instructional Specialist team, activities related to implementation and carrying out MLE Service System and MLE team objectives. Establishes effective reporting infrastructure and regularly measures progress toward program objectives through direct support of MLE Partners. May direct and oversee the administration of multiple initiatives in collaboration with other teams.

What You'll Do:

• Management of human capital, specifically the direct support and oversight of MLE Instructional Specialists, to include performance coaching, evaluation, and monitoring of individual progress against department, team, and network goals
• Frequently report out to Director about progress of MLE Service System as well personnel needs
•Ensure consistency and quality across specialist support models

Support schools in implementing, operationalizing, evaluating and monitoring the MLE Program
• Responsible for recruitment, hiring, and on-boarding/training of all new subordinates as well as support the growth in skill set and expertise for all team members
• Disseminate information regarding MLE Programming, legal requirements, and instructional expertise in serving Multilingual Learners
• Support resolution of issues associated with MLE program implementation; provide technical support and expertise to schools
• Participate in the development and execution of MLE strategic and operational planning, to include collaboration with other department managers and project teams
• Act as a spokesperson on behalf of the MLE department as well as a resource expert to all DPS staff on MLE program requirements and state and federal program requirements
• Respond in a professional manner to include timely and accurate information
• Serve as department liaison to internal and external inquiries
• Establish and document appropriate processes and procedures for the effective administration of the program

What You’ll Need:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Master's Degree in Educational Culturally and/or Linguistically Diverse Endorsement preferred
  • At least 5 years of leadership or supervisory experience, preferably in an urban education setting
  • K-12 teaching experience with large populations of Multilingual Learners
  • Instructional coaching and experience supporting leaders
  • Principal License preferred
  • Bilingual proficiency (Spanish) preferred
  • Valid Colorado Driver’s license, appropriate insurance coverage and an acceptable driving record for the past three years
  • Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community, along with believing in and supporting all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high quality education.
  • Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us.
  • Have the ability with or without accommodations to meet the physical demands of the position.
