Job Description

We’re searching for a Manager of Sterilization, someone who’s ready to be part of a growing team with amazing opportunities. In this position you will effectively supervise the Central Sterilization and Processing Department to provide sterile instrumentation, specialty items, supplies and clean equipment to the hospital customers in a timely manner, thereby providing ongoing quality service in a cost-effective manner. To provide patient care in a manner developmentally appropriate for the ages of patients served (0-Adult).

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Assures that appropriate practices and methods are maintained in accordance with manufacturer recommendations, JCAHO and AAMI standards, and Hospital/departmental policies and procedures by supervising the processing, sterilization and decontamination of instrumentation and patient equipment.

Manages all phases of steam and ETO sterilization in accordance with policy and procedure and regulations.

Assures sterilization records are completed and accurate to successfully implement the recall system if necessary.

Interacts closely with staff in other departments in the Hospital and clinics regarding sterilization, instruments, and other clinical issues as it relates to services provided by CSPD.

Confronts problems related to processing, sterilization, and decontamination in these areas. Assures compliance regulations, policies and procedures are met.

Assists with departmental safety programs for personnel to ensure compliance with all safety policies and procedures.

Assist in developing, reviewing, and implementing policies and procedures related to area of responsibility with the Safety Department and the Assistant Director for Hospital Instrumentation and CSPD.

Gives input on CSPD budget to Assistant Director Hospital Instrumentation and CSPD.

Skills & Requirements

H.S. Diploma or GED required

RN - Lic-Registered Nurses by the Texas Board of Nursing or Nursing Licensure Compact required

Or LVN - Lic-Licensed Vocational by the Nurses International Association of HealthCare Professionals

Or CRCST - Cert-Cert Reg Cent Ser TECH by The Healthcare Sterile Processing Association

5 years' experience in Central Services/Sterile Processing required

Operating Room background and supervisory experience preferred
