
Oversees the Credit Union's high-risk commercial loan portfolio and directly manages Special Assets Portfolio Managers, with responsibility for the most complex special asset relationships, including loan modifications, forbearances, restructurings, workouts, settlements, foreclosures, bankruptcy-related matters, litigation, and acquired property dispositions. Under the direction of the VP, Portfolio Management, the Manager applies senior-level judgment to determine and execute appropriate resolution strategies for adversely rated credits and other challenged loan relationships. Coordinates the transfer of loans into Special Assets, including review of prior underwriting, loan documentation, collateral exceptions, financial performance, and servicing history. Oversees portfolio monitoring, including annual reviews, covenant compliance testing, risk rating assessments, borrower performance evaluations, Criticized Asset Reports, nonaccrual assets, acquired property management, collateral disposition, reserve recommendations, and special asset metrics. Partners with lending staff and internal business partners to monitor delinquent and non-performing loans, conduct borrower outreach, and implement timely action plans. Identifies trends, emerging credit concerns, adverse events, and time-sensitive matters requiring escalation, strategic action, or senior management involvement to improve asset quality, mitigate risk, and enhance portfolio performance.
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or equivalent education and/or experience. A minimum of ten (10) years of commercial credit, loan review, special assets, workout, restructuring, or commercial banking examination experience, or a comparable combination of portfolio management, underwriting, and loan administration experience. Working knowledge and experience managing criticized and classified assets and complex workout situations, including collaboration with legal counsel on enforcement actions, bankruptcies, foreclosures, and other legal remedies. Prior supervisory, leadership, mentoring, or team-leading experience with responsibility for coaching and developing commercial credit professionals is preferred. Current knowledge of federal, state, SBA, and NCUA regulations related to commercial lending, along with strong knowledge of C&I, CRE, and SBA credit structures, loan documentation, covenant analysis, and risk rating methodologies. Formal credit training or equivalent experience is preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and financial analysis tools, is required.
