Job Description

The Manager – Software Engineering will lead the design, development, and delivery of the CERius Emissions Management platform, a critical digital solution enabling enterprise-scale carbon accounting, regulatory reporting, and sustainability analytics.
This role requires a strong blend of technical leadership, product thinking, and people leadership, managing a cross-functional team spanning frontend, backend, analytics, and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

1. Engineering Leadership & Delivery

  • Own end-to-end delivery of the CERius platform across all engineering layers (UI, services, data, infra).

  • Drive scalable, secure, and high-performance architecture for emissions data processing (Scope 1, 2, 3).

  • Establish engineering best practices (CI/CD, code quality, testing, observability).

  • Ensure predictable delivery through Agile/Scrum execution.

2. Architecture & Technical Strategy

  • Define and evolve platform architecture for:

    • Data ingestion (ERP, IoT, external datasets)

    • Emissions calculation engines

    • Reporting & dashboards

  • Drive adoption of cloud-native, microservices, and AI-enabled patterns

  • Ensure systems are designed for multi-tenant SaaS scalability

3. Cross-Functional Team Leadership

  • Lead and mentor a team across:

    • Frontend engineers (UX, dashboards)

    • Backend engineers (APIs, services)

    • Analytics engineers (data models, emissions logic)

    • Infrastructure engineers (cloud, DevOps)

  • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and high-performance culture

  • Drive skill development and career growth plans.

4. Product & Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Partner with Product Managers and Sustainability SMEs to:

    • Translate regulatory and business requirements into technical solutions

    • Prioritize roadmap based on customer and compliance needs

  • Engage with enterprise customers for feedback and solution alignment.

5. Data & Analytics Enablement

  • Oversee implementation of:

    • Emissions calculation methodologies (GHG Protocol aligned)

    • Data pipelines and transformation logic

    • Analytics dashboards and reporting frameworks

  • Ensure data accuracy, traceability, and auditability

6. Platform Reliability & Operations

  • Own platform uptime, performance, and incident management.

  • Implement SRE practices (monitoring, alerting, SLAs/SLOs).

  • Ensure robust security and compliance posture (data privacy, audit readiness).

7. Governance & Process Excellence

  • Establish engineering governance across:

    • Code reviews and standards

    • Release management

    • Technical documentation

  • Continuously improve development processes to reduce cycle time and increase quality.

8. Platform & Extensibility Engineering

  • Develop reusable platform capabilities for:

    • Configuration-driven workflows (planning templates, rule engines)

    • Multi-tenant customization (customer-specific planning models)

    • Integration frameworks (ERP, sustainability tools, external datasets)

  • Drive platform modularity to support rapid feature extensions and partner ecosystem

Key Competencies

Technical Expertise

  • Strong experience in:

    • Full-stack development (modern frontend + backend frameworks)

    • Cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP)

    • Data engineering & analytics pipelines

  • Familiarity with:

    • Sustainability / emissions platforms (preferred)

    • AI/ML integration in enterprise applications

Leadership & Execution

  • Proven ability to lead multi-disciplinary engineering teams

  • Strong delivery ownership and execution rigor

  • Ability to balance hands-on technical depth with strategic oversight

Domain & Business Understanding

  • Understanding of:

    • Carbon accounting (Scope 1, 2, 3)

    • ESG and sustainability reporting (nice to have)

  • Ability to translate complex domain requirements into scalable systems
