Department Overview

• Lead a team of software engineers by providing guidance, mentorship, and career development support to enhance individual and team performance.

• Foster a positive and productive work environment by recognizing achievements, addressing challenges, and facilitating professional growth to maximize team potential.

• Manage all stages of the software development process, including project and resource planning, requirements definition, design, implementation, testing, and deployment of embedded software for mission-critical two-way radios.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, project managers, architects, hardware engineers, acoustics, factory teams, quality assurance, and test teams, to ensure smooth project execution and integration.

• Drive innovation by leveraging advancements in AI, automation, and customized tools to improve workflows, software quality, and product features.

• Innovate and contribute to the development of intellectual property to enhance product offerings and maintain a competitive edge.

• Monitor and analyze team performance and quality metrics to ensure alignment with organizational goals while driving continuous improvement in productivity and efficiency.

• Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies in embedded systems, driving their adoption where applicable.

• Act as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, managing expectations, resolving issues, and delivering project updates and risk mitigation strategies.

• Foster collaboration within a global, multi-site development environment to ensure effective teamwork and alignment.


Basic Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical/Electronic/Telecommunications/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in embedded software development, with at least 3–5 years in a leadership or managerial role.

• Proven experience in managing the full software development lifecycle (SDLC) and delivering complex software projects.

• Understanding of microcontrollers, microprocessors, and embedded hardware-software dependencies is a plus.

• Hands-on experience with Linux and RTOS system platform development is a plus. This includes Linux kernel and board bring-up for new hardware platforms, device driver development, memory, sensors, and power management.

• Knowledge of AI/ML integration in embedded systems is a plus.

• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and project management tools.

• Strong leadership, interpersonal, and negotiation skills with the ability to inspire and manage a diverse team effectively.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with excellent presentation abilities and adaptability to different audiences.

• Results-driven mindset with excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

• Ability to manage multiple tasks and changing priorities effectively, demonstrating meticulous attention to detail.

• A passion for learning and adapting to fast-changing technologies and environments.

• This role is based onsite in Bayan Lepas, Penang.
