PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

The Manager, Signals & Communications Wayside Projects leads the successful delivery of wayside infrastructure projects throughout British Columbia by providing safety-focused leadership, technical expertise, and operational oversight. Responsible for developing and mentoring employees, this role ensures the effective installation, maintenance, diagnostics, and repair of signal and communications assets while driving continuous improvement, regulatory compliance, project performance, and service reliability across the network.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Provide visible safety leadership by fostering a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring regulatory compliance, and promoting safe work practices across all construction activities.
• Lead and coordinate construction services, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
• Drive operational excellence through the implementation of improved processes, innovative work methods, and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance productivity and service delivery.
• Manage project completion and documentation while maintaining effective relationships with regulatory agencies, stakeholders, and internal partners.
• Develop and mentor employees by providing coaching, performance feedback, and growth opportunities, while adjusting workforce plans to meet changing operational demands.
• Effectively administer collective agreements and manage resources to support workforce productivity, employee engagement, and business objectives

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma or general equivalency
• Valid driver’s license
• Relevant experience in Signals & Communications (S&C) operations, maintenance, or railway systems
• Previous leadership and management experience required, preferably in a unionized environment

• Knowledgeable on S&C Standards and Regulatory requirements
• Proficient knowledge of computer applications (word, excel, PP, SAP, CAM’s)
• Previous leadership and managerial experience

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

Medical and Drug Testing

This is a safety sensitive position and a successful pre-employment medical assessment including physical, vision, hearing, and a negative company drug test is required. Post hire qualification drug testing may also be required.
