General Description

  • Minimum of 10~12 years of experience as a Lead Buyer in a relevant procurement role
  • Strong understanding of procurement processes, supplier management, and project coordination in industrial or hydropower sectors

WHAT YOU’LL DO: Write the purpose for which the job exists

PURPOSE The role provides leadership for procurement and commodity management—ensuring effective sourcing, supplier qualification, contract negotiation, and cost optimization.
This includes handling critical commodity ( Subcontracting)

  • To Align Supply Chain With Project Timelines
  • A senior manager ensures material availability in coordination with design, QA, production, and project teams to avoid delays and cost overruns—critical for Subcontracting.
  • To Drive Compliance, Governance & Sustainable Practices
  • Company procurement policies
  • Statutory and regulatory requirements
  • Ethical and sustainable sourcing principles

1. To Deliver Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

SCM KPIs such as:

  • ≥5% savings
  • ≥90% on‑time performance
  • ≤5% single sourcing
  • Weighted Average CP ≥ 70 days

require strong ownership and continuous monitoring—typically achieved by a senior‑level leader.

2. To Strengthen Supplier Performance & Relationships

The role ensures:

  • Supplier capability development
  • Vendor risk management
  • Performance monitoring and improvement

3. To Lead Digitalization & Process Optimization

A senior manager drives process optimization, P2P automation, SAP utilization, and digital supplier performance monitoring.

4. To Manage Cross‑Functional Collaboration

The position ensures seamless coordination across functions—engineering, production, QA, finance, logistics—to maintain a stable, predictable supply chain and achieve organizational objectives.

5. To Support Organizational Growth & Capability Building

Internal documents (e.g., SCM Headcount Planning) imply a growing scope and increasing complexity in SCM

YOU’RE GOOD AT: Write the details of the core area of expertise required to possess by the candidate.

  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of complete life cycle of the procurement process (P2P) i.e. PR to Payment process
  • Strong experience working with SAP and Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
  • Good communication both (verbal and written), interpersonal skills demonstrated with internal and external customers.

YOU BRING: Experience & Qualifications (Provide information about knowledge required to delve into this role)

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Electromechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Post-Graduate in Material Management from Reputed Engineering Institute preferred not must.
  • 10–12 years of experience in procurement, preferably in industrial equipment or hydropower
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes for mechanical and welded components.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and quality specifications.

PREFERRED: Information about the knowledge required for the job which is not mandatory to possess.

  • Experience in international procurement and logistics
  • Exposure to contract management and legal terms in procurement
  • Knowledge of sustainability and ESG practices in supply chain
  • Multilingual communication skills (e.g., English, Hindi; other languages a plus)
