JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Sales Manager - Supermarket
Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Pay: Salary
Territories: Bradenton / Riverview
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Manages sales activities of representatives selling beer and other beverages to assigned off-premise accounts, including supermarkets or C&G stores. Provides guidance to sales staff in regard to customer issues, special events, promotions and new accounts. Manages the daily activities of the merchandisers engaged in merchandising accounts and distributing P.O.S. items and building displays.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities:
• Interviews and selects qualified candidates to fill vacant positions.
• Establishes work schedule for direct reports to ensure adequate manpower to meet daily requirements.
• Coordinates, tracks, and authorizes employees’ vacations and other time away from work through use of Manager Direct Access.
• Provides training and coaching to direct reports.
• Clearly communicates expectations regarding on the job performance to direct reports.
• Manages and maintains the budget for area of responsibility.
• Demonstrates J.J. Taylor’s core values and leads by example as an ambassador of the company by supporting and enforcing company policies and procedures.
• Proactively addresses issues affecting team, including performance management issues, and constructively solves problems.
• Responsible for reinforcing safe work practices and ensuring compliance with safety rules, policy and programs.
• Reports all accidents or injuries immediately to the Safety Manager. Performs accident investigations in a timely manner, and completes accident reports within 24 hours of any known accident.
• Reponsible for ensuring Safety Talks and Safety Observations are occuring on a consistent basis and supporting a strong Safety culture.
• Observes safety practices to ensure compliance with standards.
• Conducts and leads team meetings to review business issues affecting the team.
• Performs daily tracking of month-to-date volume goals and incentive programs.
• Confers with Sales Representatives and off-premise customers to discuss and resolve any problems.
• Establishes plans to ensure proper rotation and freshness of all company brands with off-premise accounts.
• Oversees inventory and distribution of promotional P.O.S. merchandise and displays to off-premise accounts.
• Persuades accounts to use P.O.S. display items to promote sale of company products.
• Analyzes sales statistics to formulate policy and to assist in developing plans to promote off-premise sales.
• Establishes quotas and goals for off-premise Sales Representatives.
• Conducts regular meetings with other sales managers to discuss overall company sales plans.
• Handles monthly recap of MBO’s for self and sales staff.
• Evaluates retail accounts and identifies opportunities for increased business.
• Discusses applicable sales programs and potential new accounts with off-premise sales representatives.
• Travels through assigned territory with off-premise sales representatives to call on current and prospective customers and resolve problems.
• Consults with managers at off-premise accounts in order to discuss organization of products in stores or acquire additional cooler space for J. J. Taylor products.
• Estimates date of delivery to customer, based on knowledge of J.J. Taylor’s delivery schedules
• Assists with Sales presentations.
• Prepares reports of business transactions and manages expense accounts.
• Conducts ride alongs with brewery representatives.
• Performs cooler resets in stores. Assists with selling resets.
• Is responsible for training and development utilizing Brew U format.
Additional Duties And Responsibilities:
• Assists with rerouting of sales territories when necessary.
• Assists with providing promotional and advertising support by conducting evaluations and reviews of marketing activities for off-premise accounts.
• Prepares periodic sales repotrs showing sales volume and potential sales.
• Provides sales coverage during vacation or absences if necessary.
• Provides support to the delivery department when needed.
• Performs any additional duties and special taks as assigned by the Director of Sales, Off- Premise.

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
• Must be able to regularly unload product (case of beer), which averages to 30 lbs., but can weigh up to a maximum of 49 lbs. from delivery vehicle and transport into customer accounts.
• Must be able to push/pull/lift kegs on a regular basis which average 170 pounds and can weigh up to a maximum of 186 pounds; you must be physically capable of routinely performing lifting at those weight levels and transporting product into customer accounts.
• Must be able to move beer within accounts to meet customer demands.
• Able to stock and rotate product in coolers and shelves.
• Able to design and build in-store product displays which may contain several hundred cases of product.
• Able to hang P.O.S. in customer accounts.
• Able to operate an electric pallet jack effectively.
• Able to maneuver a two/four-wheel dolly effectively.
Educational/Vocational/Previous Experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• Previous management/supervisory experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record required
• Minimum of 5-7 years sales experience.
Working Conditions:
• Warehouse and office environment.
• Some exposure to extreme temperatures, risk of electrical shock, high places, and outside weather conditions, including wet and/or humid conditions.
