POSITION CONCEPT
The Sr Mgr Safety & Ind Health is responsible for driving effective field safety performance through visible leadership, oversight of safety professionals, and strong partnership with operations. This includes setting and reinforcing clear safety expectations, fostering a strong “stop work and speak up” culture, and ensuring consistent application of safety systems and risk controls. Supports operational leaders by enabling hazard identification, risk management, and performance insight, while coordinating incident response and learning to reduce serious injury risk. Through leadership, oversight, and engagement, ensures safety is consistently integrated into daily work execution and continuous improvement across the organization. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
SUPERVISION
Direct Supervision: Team of Safety professionals within the assigned Business units.
Indirect Supervision: Indirect supervision of team members and contractors in safety-related aspects of the jobs. Empowered to stop any unsafe TEC team members or contractor on-site work activity that does not meet TEC Safe Work Practices, OSHA Regulations, or other company procedures of Tampa Electric Company, includes temporary and contractor team members.
RELATIONSHIPS
Key Internal: Programmatic Safety and Analytics Team, BU Leadership, Safety Leaders, Supervisors and Crews, Legal, Claims and Litigation Team, Engineering & Asset Management, Procurement, Training
Key External: Prime Contractors, Subcontractors, Vendors, Service Providers, Emergency Response Partners
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Required: Bachelors Degree in a related field.
Preferred: Associates or Bachelor’s degree in related field.
Licenses/Certifications
Required: Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or safety certification/certificate, as determined with direct performance coach, must be obtained within one year.
Experience
Required: 8 years related electric utility operations experience or safety experience. In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, an additional 4 years of experience may be considered.
Supervisory Experience
Required: 3 years of leadership experience.
Preferred: Leadership in utility safety (demonstrated ability to lead people or projects).

WORKING CONDITIONS
Autonomous work schedule to maximize field engagement and impact. Must be able to periodically work flex schedule and maintain an “on‑call” status (24/7) that in the event of a serious mishap, accident, or emergency in all types of weather conditions. May be required to travel inside and outside of the assigned service area. Ability and willingness to report to any TEC location.
