THE OPPORTUNITY
YES Prep seeks a dynamic Manager of Safety and Securitywith a robust set of experiences, to make our mission a reality. As a YES Prep employee, you will achieve jaw-dropping results, create pathways to opportunity for our students, and build transformative relationships
To put it simply, you will play an integral role in keeping schools safe and secure, accident free, and leading in high-stress situations while using the skills necessary to execute drills, train staff and students, and become an addition to the school community.
THE ROLE
When you join the YES Prep team, some of the work and responsibilities will include
- Actively supporting the mission of educational excellence and pathways to college by ensuring safe access to facilities for all staff and students;
- Proactively identifying and reporting campus security gaps to management;
- Participating, facilitating, and observing of drills and emergency procedures;
- Investigating incidents and auditing security protocols as assigned;
- Providing a controlled environment to facilitate the best learning outcomes;
- Using and implementing security related technology and programs;
- Ensuring safety and security permits, inspections, required maintenance, training and documentation are up to date for district facilities and systems;
- Building and maintaining vendor relationships to ensure timely service;
- Coordinating repair and maintenance with contracted vendors for safety and security systems;
- Maintaining campus security features such as access control, locks and keys, staff and student IDs, emergency response systems, radios, etc.;
- Sourcing and comparing vendor quotes and making a recommendation to the Director of Safety and Security to support responsible budget management
- Working nights and/or weekends as required
- Additional duties as assigned.

THE MUST HAVES
- An associate's degree or equivalent coursework hours
- 2-3 years of experience inSafety or Security,or Operations-related functions
- Strong computer skills and proven ability to write clear, accurate reports
- Ability to obtain information and gather all facts before reaching a conclusion

THE NICE TO HAVES
- Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Counseling, Educationor Electronic Technology, or equivalent military training and experience
- Military or Law Enforcement background
- First responder training/background
- Experience with access control system functionality; card readers, door contacts, motion sensors, egress requirements, badging, user profiles, and system configuration
- Experience with school-based video surveillance systems and associated software; cameras, video retrieval and playback, and camera adjustment and replacement
- Experience with mechanical door hardware; locksets, cores, crash-bars, and key system hierarchy management
- Experience with Fire Alarm systems; pull stations, alarm panels, horn/strobes, fire pumps, backflow preventers, and inspection/ permitting processes
- Experience with gate operators; Fire Department access, scheduling, and electro-mechanical operation
- Experience with Genetec or similar VMS including profile management and system recovery
- Knowledge and understanding of state requirements related to school safety

- Compensation – This position is an exempt, salaried position; offers commensurate with experience.
- Health and Supplemental Insurance– A $0 monthly medical option or a $24 monthly option that includes $50 YES Prep Paid Health Savings Account contribution, in addition to a variety of supplemental benefits including Dental,Vision, Disability, Life, etc. Employees must work 20+ hours a week to be eligible for a full spectrum of benefits, and 10 hours a week minimum for medical benefits.
