About the role

As Safety Manager, you'll play a key role in supporting the delivery and continuous improvement of Tennis Australia's safety and emergency management framework across our national operations and major events.

Reporting to the Head of Safety, Compliance and Emergency Management, you'll partner with leaders across the business to strengthen safety capability, enhance emergency preparedness, support legislative compliance, and embed a proactive approach to risk management. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the safe delivery of some of Australia's most iconic sporting events, including the Australian Open and Summer of Tennis.

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of Tennis Australia's Safety Management System (SMS) across events and business operations.

  • Driving safety planning and management, event risk planning, incident management and emergency preparedness activities for major events, including the Australian Open and Summer of Tennis.

  • Providing expert advice and guidance to stakeholders on WHS legislation, safety compliance, risk management and industry best practice.

  • Collaborating with venue operators, contractors, emergency services, regulatory authorities and internal teams to support the safe and successful delivery of events.

  • Monitoring safety performance and compliance outcomes, while driving continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen safety capability and culture.

About you

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Bring demonstrated experience in safety, risk and emergency management within major events, sport, entertainment or other complex operational environments.

  • Tertiary qualification in Occupational Health & Safety/Workplace Health & Safety.

  • Demonstrate experience delivering practical safety solutions that balance compliance requirements with operational and event delivery needs.

  • Build trusted relationships and work effectively with stakeholders including emergency services, venues, contractors, government agencies and internal teams.

  • Be a confident communicator with a proactive, solutions-focused approach and a passion for fostering a positive safety culture.

  • Hold (or be willing to obtain) a current Police Check, Working with Children Check, Level II first Aid qualification and Safety Officer in Place of Public Entertainment (SOPPE) qualification.

  • Preparedness to be flexible in regard to working hours and arrangements relating to work associated with Tennis Australia.
