ABOUT THE ROLE
The Manager, Royalty Collections provides direct leadership to SOCAN’s Royalty Collections Account Management team. This role is responsible for overseeing and enhancing the operational effectiveness of the Account Management function, ensuring both team members and account stakeholders receive the guidance, solutions, and support required to meet their needs.

By leading, enabling, and holding Account Managers accountable, this position directly contributes to improving the speed, accuracy, and efficiency of SOCAN’s royalty collection and accounts receivable cycles. Key areas of responsibility include driving the on-time collection of reports and payments; ensuring timely and accurate application of payments and credits; maintaining accurate and up-to-date memos and call logs; accelerating the implementation of new tariffs and adjustments to existing tariffs; streamlining accounts receivable processes; and fostering continuous process improvement across all Account Management activities.

Through the optimization of workflows and performance, the Manager, Royalty Collections supports SOCAN’s objectives of reducing cycle times, improving cash flow, and enabling more timely royalty distributions to members.

WHAT YOU’LL DO / KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Oversee the timely collection, validation, and accuracy of royalty reports from licensed accounts and stakeholders. Track performance against defined collection targets, proactively addressing delays and risks to support efficient royalty processing and distribution.
• Manage and optimize accounts receivable processes, including payment tracking, reconciliation, discrepancy resolution, the accounts receivable escalation process, and overdue balance management. Provide clear, actionable accounts receivable reports and insights to senior leadership to support forecasting, risk management, and decision-making.
• Drive continuous Account Management standardization and improvement across report collection, payment application, and accounts receivable workflows. Develop, maintain, and organize Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and an accessible SOP library to ensure Account Managers can easily build knowledge of applicable tariffs, procedures, and role-specific requirements.
• Own the end-to-end understanding and implementation of new and amended tariffs, including impact assessment, system enhancements, and the development of clear communications and reports. Train and coach the Account Management team to ensure accurate, compliant, and timely tariff execution with impacted accounts.
• Support the development and adoption of CRM tools and role related systems and tools to improve data accuracy, workflow efficiency, automation development, and visibility across Account Management activities.
• Lead, coach, and support the Media Team to drive accountability, high performance, and professional growth. Foster a collaborative, results-oriented team culture aligned with departmental and organizational objectives.
• Own monthly performance management through KPI-based quantitative and qualitative measures, clearly communicating expectations, progress, and opportunities for improvement. Support annual goal setting and
• rewards through consistent monthly reviews and clear end-of-year performance evaluations.
• Ensure all activities meet SOCAN’s standards for accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with reporting, licensing, and distribution requirements. Own audit support activities where applicable, ensuring readiness and effective coordination.
• Partner with internal teams to align operational processes, support continuous improvement initiatives, and contribute to SOCAN’s broader performance and cash flow objectives.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING
• Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Operations Management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
• Professional certifications in accounting, finance, operations, or process improvement (e.g., CPA, Lean, Six Sigma) are considered an asset
• Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive experience in accounts receivable, billing, royalty administration, licensing, or revenue operations, including responsibility for complex, high-volume transactions.
• 2–3 years of people leadership experience, with demonstrated success in coaching, performance management, and developing high-performing teams.
• Proven experience managing and optimizing accounts receivable processes, improving cycle times, and supporting cash flow objectives.
• Hands-on experience developing and maintaining SOPs, process documentation, and knowledge frameworks to drive consistency and operational excellence.
• Experience working with CRM systems and financial or licensing platforms, including supporting system enhancements and driving user adoption.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze performance data, produce clear management reporting, and communicate insights to senior leadership.
• Experience supporting audits, compliance requirements, or regulatory environments is considered an asset.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and drive alignment across departments
