As a member of the Risk Advisory team, you will work with your Chapter Lead and Risk Business Partner to support effective risk and control management within Bankwest. This is achieved through partnering with stakeholders and subject matter experts Group-wide to provide support and advice on key elements of the Operational Risk Management and Compliance Management Frameworks including issue and incident management, business profile management, risk governance and reporting.

On any given day, you will:

  • Enable better risk and compliance outcomes, providing guidance and advice to senior leaders by supporting the business to design and implement controls.

  • Lead and coach colleagues to conduct root cause analysis of issues and incidents, identifying and implementing control improvements.

  • Coach and mentor colleagues in identifying, initiating and managing actions to mitigate risks and to strengthen controls when issues and incidents are raised, including issues identified through audits and other external processes.

  • Provide the business with data driven insights on monthly risk management reporting.

  • Drive continuous improvement in processes in the business and in the risk team.

  • Role model and drive proactive risk management culture.

  • Evaluate the risks to the business and appraise the overall effectiveness of the suite of control and keep this evaluation current with the business environment.

  • Provide guidance to stakeholders on the operational of the Group’s Operational Risk Framework.

  • Partner with Line 2 colleagues to ensure operational risk is managed in line with the Groups Operational Risk frameworks.

  • Deliver initiatives and assessments within strict timeframes through effective project management/agile methodology and efficient use of team resources.

  • Assist in regulatory engagement activities such as drafting reportable situation reports to ASIC.


We're interested in hearing from people who have:

  • A deep understanding and experience in operational and compliance risk within Financial Services.

  • A strong risk mentality and an ability to apply good risk judgement.

  • A curious mindset, problem-solving and decision-making capability.

  • Strong reasoning and influencing skills to engage effectively with senior stakeholders.

  • Change risk management experience.

  • Capable of independently delivering for large projects and initiatives in diverse environments while interacting with stakeholders at all levels.

  • Experience in Technology and IT related risk is highly desirable but not essential.
