Your role

At Richter, we apply creative, industry focused expertise to generate results. We work side-by-side with our clients, in step with their business needs and proudly stand by our reputation as leaders and innovators in our field. As a member of the Richter team, you’ll work directly with Partners and Managers to plan, perform and complete engagements. You will have the opportunity to resolve business and tax issues directly with the client, the CRA and other government or regulatory agencies.

  • Responsible for engagement planning: including client contacts, scope of mandate, and determining appropriate staff requirements.
  • HST, provincial sales tax, and deductions at source: understands concepts (registration) and credit/input tax restrictions and identifies of potential issues related to basic thresholds.
  • Reviews working paper files and provides tax planning suggestions to optimize tax savings.
  • Personal/Corporate tax: is able to review complicated tax returns and manage the personal tax process.
  • Reviews T3 trust returns.
  • Demonstrates evidence of resolving routine client technical issues on engagements and escalation of unresolved complex issues to the appropriate person. Identifies additional client services (i.e. tax reorganization) and works alongside the multidisciplinary team at Richter.
  • Assists the team with technical aspects of the file and looks for opportunity to mentor individual team members for future growth development.
  • Manages and directs engagements; anticipates potential problems.
  • Delivers timely and direct feedback that contributes to the ongoing development of the team members. Recognized as a developer of people; actively manages team workload, performance and training.
  • Provides our clients exceptional service and ensures the team deliverables and milestones are met.
  • Ensures all professional code of conduct standards are met.

Your qualifications

  • 5 to 7 years’ experience in a public accounting firm CPA, CA, CGA or CMA designation
  • Possess exceptional technical skills and a fine attention to detail
  • Demonstrated people management and leadership skills
  • Have strong interpersonal and organizational skills and the ability to organize, prepare and clearly present information to our clients and team
  • A self-starter attitude with well-developed time management skills and the commitment to meeting deadlines
  • Outstanding client service skills
  • Have proven decision making and problem solving capabilities including ingenuity, analytical skills and creativity
  • Strong interpersonal and team building skills
  • Adaptable, flexible and able to manage multiple responsibilities in the face of competing priorities.
  • Computer proficient; knowledge of MS Outlook, Word, Excel and a working knowledge and experience in a variety of software applications including Caseware, Caseview, TaxPrep and tax research software
  • The ability to have fun and a commitment to providing exceptional client service.
