The Manager, Reinsurance Administration is responsible for overseeing reinsurance administration operations and supporting the execution and ongoing administration of reinsurance treaties and related activities. This role partners closely with internal stakeholders and external reinsurance partners to ensure accurate, timely, and effective administration of reinsurance arrangements while supporting operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and business objectives.
The Manager leads a team of subject matter experts and/or individual contributors and plays a key role in driving operational effectiveness, process improvements, internal controls, and strategic reinsurance initiatives across the organization.
Duties & Responsibilities
Reinsurance Administration & Operational Oversight: Oversee and direct day-to-day reinsurance administration activities and operational processes. Manage the preparation and administration of reinsurance settlements and support related disbursement activities. Serve as a key operational contact for reinsurance administration matters. Support accurate and timely administration of complex reinsurance transactions and treaty activities. Prepare and review operational reports and related analyses for management and business partners.
Strategic Reinsurance Support & Cross-Functional Partnership: Partner with Product Development, Special Projects, and other business areas to support implementation and operationalization of new reinsurance agreements. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop and recommend administration solutions for complex reinsurance arrangements. Support strategic departmental initiatives and execution of operational objectives. Serve as a subject matter expert for reinsurance administration projects and initiatives.
Controls, Audit & Governance: Oversee the design, execution, and monitoring of internal controls related to reinsurance administration activities. Coordinate and support reinsurer audits, internal audits, and external audit requests. Ensure operational processes and activities align with internal policies, controls, and governance requirements.
Operational Excellence & Process Improvement: Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, scalability, accuracy, and sustainability. Develop, implement, and monitor key performance indicators and operational metrics. Identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve workflows, and enhance operational effectiveness. Support system, reporting, and process enhancement activities as needed.
Relationship Management & Stakeholder Communication: Build and maintain effective working relationships with reinsurance partners and internal business stakeholders. Collaborate effectively across functions including Financial Reporting, Financial Controls, Actuarial, IT, Treasury, Investments, and Product Development. Communicate operational updates, issues, and recommendations clearly and effectively to leadership and business partners.
Leadership, Talent & Team Development: Lead, coach, and develop a team of subject matter experts and/or individual contributors. Foster a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing team environment. Support employee engagement, professional development, and succession planning activities. Provide direction, prioritization, and guidance to ensure effective execution of team responsibilities.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This role has people leadership responsibilities, including managing performance, developing talent, and supporting engagement and team effectiveness.
