You'll join National Building Operations, a team that keeps TELUS' network running reliably across the country. You'll lead a dedicated team of technicians responsible for managing power and cooling systems across network sites, ensuring the critical infrastructure that powers TELUS' connectivity never skips a beat. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll balance strategic oversight with technical expertise, working alongside internal teams and external partners to maintain operational excellence. What you'll do
Lead and mentor a team of technicians, conducting regular one-on-ones and providing feedback to support their development and performance
Oversee preventative maintenance schedules and alarm management across network sites, ensuring systems operate at peak reliability
Manage relationships with external vendors to coordinate service delivery and maintain service level agreements
Overseeing operational budgets and managing OPEX expenditures to ensure efficient and cost-effective business operations. The successful candidate must demonstrate strong experience in budget planning, forecasting, variance analysis, cost control, and financial reporting
Drive continuous improvement initiatives and operational efficiencies across the Quebec region, identifying opportunities to optimize processes and reduce costs
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Capital Planning, Project Management Delivery, and Network Operations to align on priorities and resolve complex operational challenges
The manager will be responsible for operations and maintenance of ILEC, non-ILEC and QIDC
Oversee the performance and delivery of services by BGIS, the third-party service provider responsible for operations and maintenance activities at non-ILEC sites across Quebec
What you bring
6 years of experience in managing operations teams, critical infrastructure reliability, or similar roles
Technical background through post-secondary education in engineering, facilities management, or equivalent hands-on experience in critical real estate infrastructure operations
Fluency in French, with English proficiency for cross-functional communication
Demonstrated leadership ability to inspire, motivate, and develop team members through mentoring and constructive feedback
In-depth technical knowledge of power and cooling systems, HVAC, and building automation systems
Proven experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and building management tools
Advanced proficiency with SAP or similar enterprise resource planning systems for budget and financial management
Strong experience in incident management, root cause analysis, and driving operational excellence initiatives
Great-to-haves
Experience working in telecommunications or managing critical infrastructure in data centers
Knowledge of AI and machine learning applications for predictive maintenance and intelligent automation systems
Familiarity with telecom industry standards and best practices for building operations and network reliability
Basic knowledge of English is required because you will occasionally interact in English with external parties (clients, suppliers, candidates, external partners, etc.); interact in English with internal parties (colleagues, internal partners, stakeholders, etc.) as part of this position's main responsibilities given its provincial scope.
