Job Description

Pay Range:

$68,764.80 - $134,992.00

Management of all operations and staff of Radiation DepartmentAdminister radiation treatments via linear accelerator and/or brachytherapy to patients to treat diseases under direction of physician ensuring that treatments are as accurate and as effective as possible. Acquire treatment simulation images via CT or other imaging format for the purposes of treatment planning.

Key Performance Areas

  • Manage all operational, administrative and regulatory aspects of Radiation Department.

  • Supervise activities of all technical radiation staff.

  • Schedule staff work schedules.

  • Provide guidance to other support staff providing assistance within the radiation scope of service whether they report directly or not.

  • Routinely evaluate for improvement all technical processes and protocols.

  • Implement new processes and protocols as needed.

  • Perform annual evaluations for technical radiation staff.

  • Initiate and justify new staff requisitions and, if approved, interview and hire new radiation technical staff members.

  • Maintain appropriate accreditation for radiation services if required.

  • Ensure timely filings. Maintain state and Federal regulatory filings, records and logs in an organized and easily accessible format.

  • Ensure accurate treatments in accordance with guidance from Radiation Oncologist/s, Physicist and Dosimetrist.

  • Explain therapy procedures and safety precautions to patients and provide them with assistance during therapies.

  • Consult with Radiation Oncologist in the event therapies require adjustment or modification.

  • Ensure all therapy and other equipment are maintained and that preventative maintenance is performed appropriately.

  • Ensure that department is properly stock in necessary supplies for daily operations.

  • Monitor supply orders such that such supply stock levels are adequate for daily operations but do not represent excessive inventory.

  • Maintain personal active State license and certifications in Radiation Therapy and ensure the same of all direct report RT’s.

  • Must meet all state and certification requirements for Continuing Education Units.

  • Comply with all Federal and State laws and regulations pertaining to patient care, patient’s rights, safety, billing, and collections.

  • Adhere to all company and departmental policies and procedures, including IT policies and procedures and Disaster Recovery Plan.

  • Keep office and personal work area in a neat and orderly manner.

  • Ensure the physical building and all equipment are safe for use.

  • Maintain all company equipment in a safe and working order.

  • Maintain and ensure the confidentiality of all patient and employee information at all times as required by the HIPAA regulations.

  • Assist in training new employees in related job duties.

  • Report to and meet regularly with the VP of Radiation Services to keep them informed of all department activities and status.

  • Report any and all adverse events or incidents in accordance with AON policy.

  • Keep VP of Radiation Services informed of any occurrences or situations that may subject the department and/or organization to any liability or regulatory risk.

  • Will be expected to work at any location to help meet business needs.

  • Will be expected to work overtime when given sufficient notice of required overtime.

Position Qualifications/Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Radiation Therapy Sciences

Certifications/Licenses

  • State license (if required)/certification in Radiation Therapy (ARRT).

  • Must have current CPR/BLS certifications.

Previous Experience

  • Four years radiation therapy experience.

  • Two years supervisory experience

In addition to the general tasks associated with a radiation therapist’s position, below is a list of additional duties required of the management role:

  • Acting resource staff for Co-workers, Supervisor, Director, Office Staff, etc.

  • Ability to communicate in a clear, concise, and professional manner.

  • Knowledge of both mobile and fixed sites department operations.

  • Capability to trouble shoot common/uncommon issues with the operating sites to maintain functionality.

  • Knowledge of the systems required for daily activities.

  • Good working rapport with co-workers and various other internal departments and staff.

  • Promote and ensure a positive patient experience.

  • Knowledge of monthly and quarterly Quality Control and the ability to coordinate the completion of these tasks.

  • Ability to multi-task.

  • Ability to supervise others.

  • Assist in training and monitoring the training of new therapists.

  • Available to both Co-workers, Supervisors, and/or Director.

  • Flexibility (i.e. schedule changes, location changes, etc.).

  • Approve timecards and execute all needed employee actions from hire to separation including performance evaluations and corrective action if needed.

Travel Minimal

Standard Work Days/Hours Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm
