Manages inspections of raw materials, materials in process, and finished products. Oversees the development of quality standards and protocols for quality assurance testing models. Assists in the design and implementation of policies and procedures for testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and/or equipment. Oversees management and accreditation of ISO9001 at the plant. Ensures projects are completed on time and within budget. Acts as advisor to quality assurance engineering team regarding projects, tasks, and operations. Acts as the plant’s representative in global meeting for quality. Manages Juhin and field quality issues for CMO products.

Scope

Manages a total organization of 22 people. Directly manages staff of 8 quality engineers, quality technicians and inspector supervisor with 15 hourly parts, vehicle and weld inspectors. Manages $1.2 million annual budget not including hourly inspector wages and benefits. Ensures quality for 2000+ machines a year.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Develops, implements, and manages, all aspects of quality control programs within the manufacturing operation at CMO. Works closely with production to ensure that products meet all applicable company (KES) and industry standards.
  • Participates in planning and development of new or revised products, parts, materials or processes. Coordinates and oversees quality management and certification systems (ISO9001) and procedures to product and document quality.
  • Responsible for managing effectively the operating budget, activity plan, and performance goals for Quality Assurance department.
  • Authorizes quality assurance and shipment with all CMO produced products. Manages warranty claim analysis, root cause and countermeasure process.
  • Conducts monthly Quality Control meetings to communicate activity plan progress within Chattanooga management and KAC Manufacturing and Service executive staff. Prepare materials for KAC executives to use in Management Committee and Plant Manager Meetings 3 times per year. Join annual Quality Meeting in Japan as CMO representative to explain activity plans.
  • Conducts and reports field surveys both for quality, reliability and customer satisfaction of new products and attachments. Survey members should include both Quality Assurance and Quality department personnel. Visits distributors to resolve quality issues with CMO produced products.
  • Oversees the hiring and training of employees, setting performance goals, and mentors staff to ensure appropriate job performance and succession planning.
  • Oversees Registration, Investigation and Closure of Serious Quality Issues (Juhin). Oversees Field Campaign Release, parts prep, field campaign details and PSN issues to C/M Customer machines.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in business or engineering and at least 10 years of experience in the design engineering or quality assurance in a manufacturing environment or in a related area.
  • Working knowledge of construction equipment power, control systems, including electrical, hydraulic circuits, transmissions, etc.
  • Proficient with all computer applications and statistical control - graphing and charting abilities important ie. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc. Good communication skills both verbally and written are important along with interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complex tasks. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.
  • Travel requirements 10% per year
