Job Description Summary

The Manager, Prosthetics and Orthotics is responsible for operational, financial and administrative leadership of all wholly owned Prosthetics and Orthotics operations, as well as the day-to-day management and oversight of partnerships with alliance partners throughout the Chicago market. The manager oversees departmental operations, business planning, workforce planning, performance improvement, financial stewardship, data analytics and project implementation to support high-quality patient care and organizational objectives. The manager represents Prosthetics and Orthotics across Shirley Ryan AbilityLab committees, interdisciplinary teams and professional organizations, serving as a clinical and operational leader while promoting best practices, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

The Manager provides leadership for the planning, implementation and continuous evaluation of departmental operations and is accountable for quality outcomes, patient experience, workforce engagement, operational efficiency, financial performance, regulatory compliance and achievement of departmental goals.

Job Description

The Manager, Prosthetics and Orthotics will:

• Oversee all departmental operations by establishing, monitoring and achieving clinical, operational, service, quality and financial performance metrics. Utilize data and performance metrics. Utilize data and performance dashboards to identify trends, implement action plans and drive continuous improvement.
• Provide operational oversight for all wholly owned Prosthetics and Orthotics operations and serve as the primary operational liaison for alliance partner relationships throughout the Chicago market. Foster collaborative partnerships, monitor operational performance, address service issues, and work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment with Shirley Ryan AbilityLab quality, operational, financial, and strategic objectives.
• Assume accountability for patient care, quality of care, patient experience, workforce engagement, department operations and achievement of organizational department goals.
• Develop, monitor and manage the department operating budget, labor productivity, staffing plans, operating expenses and capital resources. Analyze financial performance, identify variances and implement corrective actions to achieve budget and operational goals.
• Utilize operational, financial and quality data to develop performance dashboards, monitor key performance indicators, identify trends and implement action plans that improve clinical outcomes, operational efficiency and financial performance.
• Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, inclusion, innovation and continuous learning that promotes employee engagement, professional growth and high performance. Recruit, hire, onboard, coach, mentor and develop a high-performing workforce. Conduct performance evaluations, implement corrective action when appropriate, support succession planning and develop talent to meet current and future organizational needs. Partner with departmental leadership to develop and implement strategic plans, business initiatives and service line growth opportunities informed by clinical outcomes, market trends, patient needs and financial analysis. Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with referral sources, physicians, vendors, payors and community partners to support program growth and exceptional customer service.
• Lead implementation of operational improvements, workflow redesign, clinical protocols, performance standards, policies and technology initiatives that improve quality, efficiency and patient outcomes. Collaborate with organizational resources to provide operational, clinical and technical expertise while promoting interdisciplinary collaboration and knowledge sharing. Collaborate across departments and disciplines to support enterprise initiatives, improve patient care delivery and achieve organizational goals.
• Lead continuous quality improvement initiatives and ensure ongoing compliance with accreditation, regulatory, safety and environmental standards. Develop and implement corrective action plans as needed. Support the academic and research mission of Shirley Ryan AbilityLab through participation in education, clinical research and professional development activities while fostering relationships with academic institutions and professional organizations. Monitor departmental operational and financial metrics, including productivity, revenue, expenses and applicable research-related activities, and prepare reports to support informed operational decision-making.
• Perform all other duties that may be assigned in the best interest of the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab.

Reporting Relationships:

• Reports directly to the Director, Prosthetics and Orthotics.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

• Knowledge of clinical/business practice as normally acquired through completion of a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree preferred.
• Certification in Prosthetics and Orthotics required.
• 7 years clinical experience with a minimum of three years progressively responsible clinical leadership experience, including demonstrated success in operations management, financial management, workforce leadership and performance improvement.
• Demonstrated analytical, financial and strategic planning skills with the ability to interpret operational and financial data, develop staffing plans, evaluate performance metrics and implement operational improvements. Interpersonal skills are necessary to provide effective leadership and communicate effectively with patients, patient families, referring parties, managed care organizations and payors, and other SRAlab system-wide staff.
• Demonstrated knowledge of healthcare quality improvement methodologies, project management, change management and regulatory/accreditation standards.
• Strong leadership, communication and relationship management skills with the ability to influence, collaborate and build effective partnerships across interdisciplinary teams.

Working Conditions:

• Normal office environment with little or no exposure to dust or extreme temperature.

Pay Range:

$82,300.00 - $136,700.00
