Job Description

Aerospace is at a turning point — costs are rising, supply chains are strained, and old ways of building can’t keep up. At Neon Aero, we’re breaking that mold. We move fast, think big, and combine start-up agility with aerospace expertise to design, build, and scale aircraft in ways the industry has never seen. Our team leverages automation, AI-driven tools, and a fully connected digital backbone to accelerate innovation and reduce barriers to production.

Here, you won’t just take a job — you’ll help reinvent how the world flies. If you’re ready to solve complex problems, push technology further, and work alongside some of the brightest minds in aerospace, this is your chance to make a real impact.

Neon is seeking a Manager - Propeller Product Design to lead a small, elite team developing propeller systems from concept through certification and production. This role is built for a hands-on engineering leader from a high-standard organization who is comfortable moving quickly, making strong technical decisions, and delivering quality hardware under aggressive timelines.

Why This Role Matters

  • Lead a critical engineering team responsible for propeller system design and product realization.
  • Set a high bar for technical quality, compliance, and execution.
  • Drive engineering work from concept into certification and manufacturing.
  • Partner across engineering, manufacturing, and suppliers to solve hard problems quickly.
  • Operate in a fast-paced environment where urgency, rigor, and ownership matter.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering field; equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in mechanical or aerospace system design, analysis, development, and production introduction.
  • Experience leading engineers in demanding product development environments.
  • Strong background in mechanical or aerospace system design, analysis, and production introduction.
  • Experience transitioning designs into manufacturing or other hands-on technical settings.
  • Understanding of aerospace certification techniques, terminology, and accepted practices.
  • Experience with FAA or military qualification of systems is highly desired.
  • Familiarity with rotating machinery, propellers, rotors, VTOL systems, or traditional aircraft is highly desired.
  • Experience reviewing engineering data with rigor and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with CAD, drawings, GD&T, model-based definition, CFD, and structural substantiation.
  • Ability to work in office, lab, and manufacturing environments as needed.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Ability to comply with export control, ITAR, and related security requirements.

Preferred

  • Experience leading small, agile, high-performing engineering teams.
  • Experience in certification of propeller, rotor, or other rotating flight systems.
  • Experience in organizations with high technical standards and aggressive development schedules.

Why Join Us

  • Work alongside elite engineering talent and innovators from across aerospace and tech.
  • Be part of a team moving faster than the industry standard.
  • Shape solutions that are lower-cost, autonomous, and scalable — the future of aviation.
  • Competitive compensation, including equity participation, growth opportunities, and full health benefits (health, vision, dental, 401(k)) designed to support you in and out of work.
This is the expected compensation range for this role. Final compensation will be based on role scope, experience, skills, internal equity and location. This role may also be eligible for bonus/equity/benefits, if applicable.
