Strategic Sourcing Project Manager

Mexico City, Hybrid

At Alcon, we are driven by the meaningful work we do to help people see brilliantly. We innovate boldly, champion progress, and act with speed as the global leader in eye care. Here, you’ll be recognized for your commitment and contributions and see your career like never before. Together, we go above and beyond to make an impact in the lives of our patients and customers. We foster an inclusive culture and are looking for diverse, talented people to join Alcon.

As Strategic Sourcing Project Manager supporting the Procurement organization, you will be trusted to lead and coordinate strategic procurement initiatives, drive project governance, and support senior stakeholders across Direct and Indirect Sourcing. In this role, you will partner closely with Procurement leadership, sourcing teams, finance, and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure projects are planned, executed, tracked, and communicated effectively.

In this role, a typical day will include:

  • Leading and managing a portfolio of strategic procurement and sourcing projects, with a strong focus on Indirect Procurement initiatives.
  • Coordinating and facilitating Sourcing Councils, including agenda preparation, action item tracking, stakeholder follow-up, and progress monitoring.
  • Driving project planning, timelines, milestones, risk management, and execution to ensure initiatives are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with business priorities.
  • Tracking project-related spend, savings, budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis to provide clear visibility and executive-level reporting.
  • Building and improving project governance, dashboards, reporting tools, and processes to support decision-making, accountability, and continuous improvement.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO ALCON:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, Project Management, or a related field; equivalent years of directly related experience may be considered.
  • Around 10 years of experience in project/program management, preferably within Procurement, Indirect Procurement, Strategic Sourcing, Supply Chain, or Finance-related projects.
  • PMP, PMI, or equivalent Project Management certification preferred.
  • Strong financial acumen, including experience with spend tracking, savings reporting, budget consolidation, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Experience working with senior leaders and executive-level stakeholders, with strong communication skills, executive presence, and the ability to influence without authority.
  • Ability to create, improve, and follow structured processes while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
  • Strong English communication skills, including the ability to clearly present complex information through PowerPoint and executive updates.
  • Proficiency with project management and reporting tools such as Smartsheet, MS Project, Power BI, Tableau, Excel, or equivalent platforms.

HOW YOU CAN THRIVE AT ALCON:

  • Lead high-visibility procurement initiatives while partnering closely with senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Grow in a role designed for a strong project/program management professional who can act as a trusted partner to Procurement leadership and continue developing toward broader senior PM responsibilities.
  • Join an intercultural, analytical, and collaborative team where curiosity, ownership, clear communication, and follow-through are highly valued.
