The role is accountable for planning and directing design engineers and other technical engineers working on specific projects. They manage the development, implementation, and evaluation of complex designs. They are responsible for managing large projects with complex scope, multiple streams of work and inter-dependencies.
Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:
Basic Qualifications
Experience in program or project management within both hardware (HW) and software (SW) domains.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or an equivalent combination of education and practical experience.
Languages: Full professional proficiency in spoken and written English.
Essential Responsibilities
End-to-End Delivery: Drive hardware and software program schedules, ensuring on-time delivery, scope alignment, and high-quality outcomes.
Cross-Functional Leadership: Serve as the primary bridge between engineering teams and business stakeholders to align program goals.
Risk & Budget Management: Lead rapid assessments of program budgets, schedules, and risks. Proactively escalate variances to secure resources and keep the program on track.
Supply Chain & Manufacturing: Manage material risk-buys by ensuring design teams provide risk-buy BOMs on time, proposing alternative solutions when needed. Support prototype builds in manufacturing (MFG), establish MFG processes, and drive test yield improvements.
Issue Resolution: Oversee issue triage and resolution across HW and SW teams, managing change requests and scope adjustments effectively.
Process Improvement: Enhance process efficiency and product quality through active collaboration with QA and engineering teams.
Stakeholder Communication: Monitor progress and provide clear, consistent updates to internal and external stakeholders.
Required Technical Expertise
Hardware & Manufacturing: Deep understanding of ICT (Information and Communication Technology) system product design, manufacturing, and supply chain processes. Strong business knowledge of PCBs, mechanicals, thermal components (e.g., fans, heatsinks), and PSUs.
Software & Firmware: Expertise in software feasibility studies, requirement acquisition, release planning, and QA processes. Knowledge of firmware development and testing for computing, networking, and telecom products (e.g., BIOS, BMC, SES, BSP, Linux).
Lifecycle Governance: Comprehensive understanding of hardware development phases (EVT, DVT, PPVT, PVT) alongside software development lifecycles. Mastery of critical path analysis and dependency management.
Key Skills & Competencies
Business Acumen: Strong capability in product pricing, contract negotiations, business case development, and POR (schedule, budget, cost) management.
Tool Proficiency: Highly familiar with project management and documentation tools, including JIRA, Confluence, JAMA, MS Project, MS Office Suite, and database management.
Global Leadership: Proven ability to manage global teams, motivate individuals under tight deadlines, and thrive in multicultural, ambiguous environments.
Communication: Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and documentation skills with strong negotiation and problem-resolution abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
Certifications: Active certification in PMI-PMP, PMI-ACP, PMI-PBA, Scrum Master, or equivalent.
Track Record: Demonstrated ability to work independently and successfully lead complex, large-scale HW/SW initiatives from ground zero to launch.
Bachelor degree or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experience.
