The Product Manager is responsible for creating the product strategy and delivering a finished product. This position is responsible for the life cycle of a product, managing product delivery along with identifying what the product’s defining features will be in order to delight internal and/or external customers. The product manager will across the organization, collaborating with project managers, software developers, customer service department staff and more, as well as working closely with external partners. This role is responsible for how parents use available funds in intuitive, compliant, and scalable ways.

Location: Remote (United States)

Key Responsibilities:
• Parent-facing commerce and spending experiences.
• Marketplace and service provider integrations.
• Reimbursements, direct pay, and purchase workflows.
• Transaction lifecycle design (authorization → settlement → confirmation).
• UX flows that reduce friction while enforcing policy rules.
• Partner and vendor enablement.

Qualifications:
• Demonstrated success and a proven track record of professional/life experience in specific job functions, projects, industries or military service can substitute for professional experience and/or formal education requirements.
• Requires three to five years’ experience as a full-time product manager, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Prior experience in accounting or finance roles.
• Experience in commerce, payments, or spending platforms:
◦ Examples: marketplaces, e-commerce, fintech wallets, reimbursements, payment rails.
• Strong understanding of:
◦ Purchase flows.
◦ Authorization and settlement concepts.
◦ Refunds, reversals, and exceptions.
• While this role is not responsible for accounting systems, you must understand that:
◦ Every dollar spent maps to a PR, PO, and Invoice.
◦ Transactions must align to downstream accounting rules.
◦ Spending actions must be auditable and traceable.

You’ll Stand Out If You Have:
• Experience in commerce, payments, or spending platforms:
◦ Examples: marketplaces, e-commerce, fintech wallets, reimbursements, payment rails.
• Strong understanding of:
◦ Purchase flows.
◦ Authorization and settlement concepts.
◦ Refunds, reversals, and exceptions.
• While this role is not responsible for accounting systems, you must understand that:
◦ Every dollar spent maps to a PR, PO, and Invoice.
◦ Transactions must align to downstream accounting rules.
◦ Spending actions must be auditable and traceable.

Key Competencies:
• Commerce UX and workflow design.

• Comfortable with making decisions with some level of uncertainty.
• Ability to maintain a keen attention to detail and work well under pressure and in a fast-changing environment.
• Must be articulate, a good listener and have the ability to persuade teams to work to their highest potential.

Working Conditions and Equipment Use:
• Work is performed indoors in a typical office environment - not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
• Valid driver license with proof of insurance.

Step Up For Students empowers parents to pursue and engage in the most appropriate learning options for their children, with an emphasis on families who lack the information and financial resources to access these options. By pursuing this mission, we help public education fulfill the promise of equal opportunity.

Step Up For Students is a state-approved nonprofit scholarship funding organization that helps administer five scholarships for Florida schoolchildren: the Florida Tax Credit Scholarship Program (FTC) and the new Family Empowerment Scholarship for lower-income families, the FES-US for children with certain special needs, the Hope Scholarship for public school students who are bullied or victims of violence and the Reading Scholarship for public school students in k through fifth grade who struggle with reading.
