Hybrid Work Arrangement

At CDA-AMC, employees participate in a hybrid workspace arrangement that allows for flexibility and enhanced work-life balance. This position follows a hybrid work schedule with a minimum of 2 days onsite, though this requirement may vary based on business and operational needs.

Primary Focus

We are seeking to fill a current opening on our Pharmaceutical Reviews team. The Manager, Pharmaceutical Reviews is responsible for the overall leadership and operational management of a multidisciplinary team who delivers comprehensive assessments to support timely health care decision making to Canada’s federal, provincial (except for Quebec) and territorial health care decision-makers.

What do the daily responsibilities look like?

On any given day, the Manager, Pharmaceutical Reviews will:

• implement program policies and procedures to ensure the effective, high-quality delivery of CDA-AMC pharmaceutical products and services.
• complete final review and sign-off on CDA-AMC reports for Director approval before being released to the client or public.
• responsible for new hire onboarding, employee development, promotion of evidence-based practices, research, education and training.
• ensure alignment and achievement of work priorities, determining the allocation of employee skills and resourcing of reviews based on report requirements and complexity, in order to meet service delivery and scheduling time limits.
• provide operational leadership in the safe, effective, and efficient delivery of continuous improvement initiatives.
• evaluate current practices and program outcomes and lead quality improvement initiatives based on work priorities, business unit strategy, and goals.
• attend and lead relevant internal and external meetings to maintain awareness and to contribute to project deliverables.
• provide guidance, oversight and assessment of team members and performance management
• coach, counsel, and manage employees ensuring compliance with systems, policies and procedures.
• work collaboratively with other CDA-AMC business units and key partners to promote the organizations products and high-quality standards.

Is this the right role for you?

The Manager, Pharmaceutical Reviews will likely have:

• Completion of a graduate degree in a health-related discipline, with at least 6-8 years’ experience providing leadership to a team using effective management techniques (coaching, mentoring, skill and leadership development, decision-making, coalition building, performance management). Additional related experience may serve as a suitable equivalent for completion of post-secondary education.
• a broad experience and understanding of research methods, systematic reviews, pharmaceutical appraisals, development and application of health technology assessments, the Canadian health care system, relevant legislation, regulation and decision-making processes
• achievement-orientation with demonstrated ability to think strategically, understand long term organizational strategy and vision
• the ability to provide inspirational leadership, creating a sense of direction and purpose for staff, momentum for change, and support in complex and demanding situations
• the ability to take an innovative and inventive approach to looking at organizational priorities and opportunities, take responsible risks and a drive for results and efficiency
• strong clinical networks and proven ability to work in a multi-stakeholder environment and establish credibility, trust, and collaborative working relationships both internally and externally
• strategic planning skills to contribute to the development of strategic and operational plans as well as the ability to function at the operational, management, and strategic levels
• strong organizational and project management skills to manage concurrent projects, ensuring goals and deadlines are met and quality levels are maintained
• the ability to work and communicate effectively with a variety of key partners and understand their diverse interests and agendas
• strong interpersonal, communication, writing, presentation, negotiation, organizational, and facilitation skills
• the ability to independently problem solve and determine the best course of action, using research, logic, and evaluative judgment
• a demonstrated flexibility and adaptability within the working environment, and the capability to manage multiple tasks and conflicting priorities
• a team-oriented approach with the flexibility and versatility to operate in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary work environment
• proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
