Job Description

The Manager, Performance Analytics, APEC is a full-time individual contributor role responsible for delivering commercial performance insights, scalable analytical framework & report, and executive-ready analytical narratives for the APEC Commercial Services Analytics team. The role delivers recurring weekly, monthly, and quarterly performance routines, benchmarking reporting, revenue and commercial analytics, Annual Business Planning, goal setting, and strategic initiatives that help stakeholders monitor business performance, identify risks and opportunities, and drive fact-based commercial decisions across APEC.

This position partners closely with Commercial Services Analytics team members, market and regional stakeholders, and cross-functional partners to frame business questions, validate data, develop analytical approaches, and translate findings into clear, concise, and business-relevant insights. The Manager is expected to own assigned analytics deliverables from requirement clarification through analysis, visualization, stakeholder communication, and post-delivery refinement.

As an individual contributor, the role does not have direct people management accountability. However, the Manager is expected to provide horizontal mentoring, knowledge sharing, and analytical guidance to peers, junior team members, and interns where relevant. This includes helping others strengthen analytical thinking, reporting discipline, data storytelling, documentation practices, and business understanding, while contributing to a collaborative and high-quality analytics culture.

The role will also contribute to the development, maintenance, and enhancement of scalable reporting and visualization capabilities, including Tableau/Power BI dashboards and related analytical assets. Success in this role requires strong analytical judgment, commercial acumen, stakeholder management, attention to detail, and the ability to convert complex data into practical insights and leadership-ready communication.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education & Experience

  • 4-year bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, or another quantitative discipline.

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience in analytics, business intelligence, commercial analysis, revenue strategy, performance reporting, dashboard development, or a related analytical function.

  • Experience translating business questions into analytical requirements, conducting structured analysis, validating outputs, and communicating insights to business stakeholders.

  • Hands-on experience working with corporate reports, dashboards, data preparation, reporting visualizations, and analytical summaries for leadership or business review routines.

  • Preferred: Working experience in Commercial, Revenue Management, Sales, Marketing, Loyalty, Customer, Travel, Hospitality, or related business intelligence environments.

  • Preferred: Experience working with cloud-based data platforms, APIs, automated data workflows, Power Platform, or related analytics tools.

  • Preferred: Experience guiding junior analysts, peers, interns, or cross-functional partners through analytical logic, reporting standards, documentation, or data storytelling.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Strong analytical judgment, with the ability to work with large datasets, identify trends, diagnose performance drivers, validate findings, and summarize insights clearly.

  • Ability to connect commercial performance, market dynamics, revenue trends, market share movement, and business context into practical analytical outputs and recommendations.

  • Strong data storytelling skills, with the ability to translate analysis into concise summaries, visual outputs, executive-ready materials, and business-facing narratives.

  • Ability to frame business questions, clarify analytical requirements, define success metrics, and determine practical approaches to support stakeholder decision making.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy, consistency, governance, and quality.

  • Ability to independently manage recurring reporting deliverables, prioritize multiple assignments, meet deadlines, and maintain high-quality execution in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work across Commercial, Revenue Strategy, Market, Regional, Global, and cross-functional teams.

  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively, with a proactive approach to follow-up, issue resolution, process improvement, and continuous learning.

  • Excellent command of the English language, with strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare leadership-ready materials and explain complex analysis to non-technical audiences.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint is essential.

  • Strong knowledge of SQL is required and familiarity with database environments such as Snowflake is preferred.

  • Experience with Power BI or Tableau, including dashboard development, data visualization, performance monitoring, report enhancement, and stakeholder self-service enablement.

  • Exposure to statistical analysis, forecasting, automation, Python, Power Platform, or related programming languages is advantageous.

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

  • Own assigned monthly and quarterly performance reporting deliverables for APEC Commercial Services Analytics, including data preparation, validation, analysis, interpretation, and summary of key trends.

  • Analyze commercial, revenue, benchmarking and performance data to identify trends, risks, opportunities, performance drivers, and areas requiring further review.

  • Translate analytical outputs into clear, concise, and business-relevant insights, narratives, and recommendations for internal stakeholders and leadership materials.

  • Maintain, enhance, and govern analytical reports, dashboards, and data assets used for commercial performance management and decision support.

  • Support the development and improvement of Tableau/Power BI dashboards and other visualization tools to strengthen performance monitoring, stakeholder self-service, and reporting efficiency

  • Prepare data extracts, analysis, charts, talking points, and supporting materials for leadership communication decks, business reviews, Annual Business Planning, goal setting, and strategic initiatives.

  • Partner with stakeholders to clarify business questions, define analytical requirements, align on assumptions, and ensure outputs are fit for purpose.

  • Conduct data validation, reconciliation, troubleshooting, and quality checks to ensure accuracy and reliability of reporting outputs.

  • Lead assigned ad hoc analysis and special projects, including problem framing, analytical approach, stakeholder alignment, insight generation, and final deliverable preparation.

  • Contribute to process improvement, automation, and standardization opportunities that improve reporting efficiency, analytical quality, and repeatability.

  • Document reporting logic, data sources, assumptions, business definitions, and process steps to support continuity, transparency, and knowledge transfer.

  • Monitor recurring reporting processes and dashboard usability, recommending enhancements that reduce manual effort, improve stakeholder adoption, and strengthen decision support.

  • Provide horizontal mentoring and knowledge sharing to peers, junior team members, and interns where relevant, including guidance on analytical thinking, data validation, dashboard logic, documentation, and business storytelling.

  • Collaborate with team members and cross-functional partners to maintain alignment across commercial reporting, market share analysis, revenue analytics, and related performance routines.
