A Brief Overview
The Manager, People Compliance leads the organization's HR compliance program by driving the compliance roadmap, providing centralized HR oversight, and ensuring alignment with federal, state, and local regulations. This role owns the full HR policy lifecycle, leads compliance projects and audits, and partners closely with Legal and HR COEs to translate regulatory requirements into practical solutions. This role leverages data and analytics to monitor compliance progress, manages a team of compliance professionals, and may support with investigations and training efforts to strengthen organizational compliance capability.
What you will do
- Compliance Projects & Roadmap Execution- Lead end-to-end HR compliance projects and initiatives, driving the compliance roadmap, ensuring policy alignment, owning timelines and deliverables, and implementing prevention and risk-mitigation strategies. Collaborate with Legal and internal stakeholders on compliance-related needs.
- Compliance Oversight & Regulatory Alignment- Drive compliance roadmap items including identifying ownership, policy alignment & prevention initiatives. Provide centralized oversight of PLD compliance by identifying gaps, standardizing practices, and strengthening capability. Partner with Legal to monitor and interpret federal, state, and local legislative changes; translate requirements into actionable policy and process updates and advise leaders on operational impact. Leads HR record retention and destruction programs in partnership with legal. Acts as the primary contact for government filings, regulatory audits, and third party compliance reviews.
- Policy Process Ownership & Governance- Own the full HR policy lifecycle, including drafting, approval, distribution, and governance. Coordinate bi-annual review of employee handbook by collaborating with designated policy owners to update policies. Coordinates ad hoc policy review and updates, as required by local and state legislation changes and in support of Director. Communicate policy and process changes to leadership as required.
- Data, Analytics & Reporting- Use data and analytics to monitor compliance progress and associate relations data. Identify trends and emerging risks, develop scorecard, dashboards and reporting, to provide insights and recommendations to leadership.
- People Leadership - Manage and develop a team of compliance professionals responsible for I-9, E-Verify, pre-employment background checks, and required compliance documentation.
- Ethics & Investigations - Responds to compliance concerns and escalated associate issues, conducting investigations and recommending policy or process improvements to prevent recurrence.
- Training & Capability Building - Develops and delivers targeted compliance training for HR, managers, and business leaders. Measures training effectiveness and drives continuous improvement to strengthen organizational compliance capability.

What you will need
- Bachelor's Degree Human Resources, Business, Law or related field Required
- 4-6 years Experience in HR compliance, employment law or a related HR function Required
- 1-3 years People leadership experience Required
- PHR/SPHR, SHRM-CP/SCP or a compliance certification (e.g., CCEP) Preferred
- Strong project and program management skills, including the ability to plan, prioritize, execute, and sustain multiple compliance initiatives simultaneously.
- Analytical and data interpretation skills, with the ability to identify trends, assess compliance risk, and translate data into actionable insights for leaders.
- Excellent policy writing and documentation skills, with the ability to create clear, compliant, and practical guidance.
- Effective cross-functional partnership and stakeholder management skills, particularly with Legal, HR COEs, leaders, and external counsel.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to clearly explain regulatory requirements, risks, and recommendations to varied audiences.
- Proven people leadership and coaching skills, including developing team capability, providing feedback, and driving performance.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills, particularly in complex or ambiguous compliance situations.
- Ability to design, deliver, and evaluate training, ensuring content is practical and effective for HR, managers, and leaders.
- Ability to own and drive work independently, demonstrating sound judgment and accountability with minimal direction.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and change, adapting quickly to evolving regulations and business needs.
- Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with discretion and integrity.
- Ability to build scalable, sustainable compliance processes that improve capability over time.
- Ability to influence without authority, gaining alignment across multiple functions and levels of the organization.
- Ability to balance strategic and tactical work, shifting between high-level planning and hands-on execution.

Expected Work Location (In Office) It is expected that you will primarily perform work at the Safelite Home Office (7400 Safelite Way, Columbus, OH 43235). You are required to work in the office at least 4 days a week. Changes to work location arrangements are subject to managerial approval and business needs. #LI-Onsite #LI-MH1
