Performs moderately complex management or oversight activates for daily operations of an operating unit or functionalprogram. Work involves establishing short-, mid-, or long-term goals and objectives; developing guidelines,procedures, rules and regulations; developing schedules, priorities, and standards for achieving established goals;coordinating and evaluating program activities; and developing and evaluating budget requests. Plans, assigns, and/orsupervises the work of others. Works under limited direction with extensive latitude for the use of initiative andindependent judgment.
1 The Park Maintenance Supervisor oversees, leads, and directs the Parks Maintenance department and activities. Sets department goals, determines budget, manages personnel logistics, and provides managerial support for projects.
Essential Functions
1 Manages activities of staff and daily operations of the Parks Maintenance and related activities; delegates authority and responsibility for assigned tasks to subordinates; identifies needed areas of change or development and institutes changes to improve operations; plans, implements, coordinates, monitors compliance, and evaluates policies and procedures; reviews and oversees work schedules of others all subordinate levels.
2 Establishes short-, mid- and long-term goals and objectives; develops and/or approves schedules, priorities,
and standards for achieving goals; and directs evaluation activities; oversees the preparation of management and productivity reports and studies; oversees special investigations, internal audits, and research studies.
3 Inspects, evaluates, and reviews work completed by crews and employees for quality and safety standards; provides training to new employees or crew leaders and ensures all permits are pulled and materials and equipment used professionally.
4 Analyzes, evaluates, and ensures production goals are met in a timely manner and works to increase productivity; oversees the preparation of and evaluates, implements, and administers the department budget; oversees the planning, development, and operation of special projects or facilities.
5 Manages equipment, inventory, fixed assets and supplies; ensures staff complies with daily vehicle and equipment inspections to ensure proper and safe operation practices are being followed.
6 Assists and supports the hiring process for employees and maintenance workers; attends and participates in job fairs and being on interview panels for new workers; evaluates staff and enforces disciplinary measures for field employees.
7 Provides quality customer service by communicating effectively with customers and responding to issues or concerns timely and professionally.
8 Represents the program area at meetings, hearings, trials, conferences, and seminars or on boards, panels, and
committees; testifies at hearings, trials, and legislative meetings as appropriate.
9 Performs any and all other work as required or assigned.
Knowledge and Skills
1 Knowledge of equipment, tools, methods, and practices used in various construction repairs.
2 Knowledge of City policies and procedures for departmental management and activities.
3 Knowledge and understanding of safety procedures
4 Managing, leading, directing, evaluating, and training crews, staff, and subordinate personnel.
5 Establishing short and long range goals and determining budget.
6 Serving on committees and recommending changes to improve quality and efficiency.
7 Ability to read and write; ability to develop reports and metrics.
8 Knowledge of administrative functions for a department,
9 Establishing and maintaining strong relationships.
Experience
5 years in park maintenance with at least 3 years of supervisory experience preferred.
Licenses and Certifications
Texas Driver's License
Education
High School Diploma, GED
Salary Range
$66,747.20 - $83,428.80
The salary listed on this job posting is the starting salary range; amount offered will depend upon qualifications.
