  • Lead a critical operations planning function at the centre of Qantas Engineering, driving safety, compliance and fleet performance
  • Take ownership in a fast-paced, real-time environment, partnering closely with the Integrated Operations Centre (IOC)

The Manager Operations Planning is a senior leadership role within the Qantas Engineering (QE) Network and Fleet Planning function. Reporting to the Manager Event Planning, this role is accountable for leading a large, diverse team to deliver line maintenance planning and scheduling across the Qantas network, ensuring safe, compliant and efficient operations.

As the Manager Operations Planning, you will lead line maintenance planning and scheduling across the Qantas network, ensuring airworthiness and regulatory compliance. You will act as the key escalation point for day-to-day operations, managing disruptions and working closely with internal teams and external providers to maintain continuity

Operating at the centre of a live and fast-paced environment, this role partners closely with the Integrated Operations Centre (IOC) to balance safety, compliance and performance in real time. You will also lead the delivery of critical initiatives across Engineering and IOC, including system enhancements, process improvements, operational readiness programs, and the introduction of new aircraft types.

The successful candidate will have:

  • 10+ years’ aviation experience, including 5+ years in a people leadership role
  • Minimum diploma in engineering, leadership or business management, degree and/or aircraft maintenance trade qualifications preferred
  • Proven experience leading large, complex teams, with the ability to drive performance, engagement and accountability in challenging environments
  • Strong operational leadership experience within aviation or similarly high-pressure, real-time environments
  • Experience working with maintenance, engineering or planning functions, with a sound understanding of maintenance planning, scheduling and operational trade-offs
  • The ability to make confident, timely decisions under pressure, supported by strong analytical and problem-solving capability
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing capability across multiple parts of the business
  • Understanding of airworthiness requirements and regulatory frameworks (including P42/P145)
  • Experience in airline network operations, planning or scheduling, and delivering operational or project-based outcomes
