Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopaedics business to establish a standalone orthopaedics company, operating as DePuy Synthes. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 18 to 24 months, subject to legal requirements, including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as may be required, regulatory approvals and other customary conditions and approvals. Should you accept this position, it is anticipated that, following conclusion of the transaction, you would be an employee of DePuy Synthes and your employment would be governed by DePuy Synthes employment processes, programs, policies, and benefit plans. In that case, details of any planned changes would be provided to you by DePuy Synthes at an appropriate time and subject to any necessary consultation processes.

The Manager External Operations functions as the supply chainleadforDePuy-SynthesExternal Operations manufacturing sites. The External Operations Manageris responsible formonitoring and escalating any issues of the relationship with assigned external manufacturers to deliver reliable product supply and total cost effectiveness while meeting or exceeding all customer service,complianceand product requirements.

Major Responsibilities

Responsible for working withstrategiccollaboratoron managingthe manufacturingoperations to ensure that products are available to meet customer needs.Manages costs and feasibility requests and vendor quotes and makes recommendations to Director of Operations.Identifiesnew suppliers andevaluatestheir capabilities. At this level, the position influencesthe businessresults and, typically, responsibility for managing a group of professionals.

Critical Success Factors or Scope or Responsibilities

  • Develops a strong understanding of the process and all technical details for the product currently manufactured at the contract manufacturing facility.

  • Managesthe approval/purchase/delivery/installation schedule ofsignificant numberof capitalequipment acrossstrategic collaboratorsites andall ancillary projects tomanage manufacturing floorspace

  • Processes all disputed purchases of goods and servicesand claimsfor the protection of the company and with fairness to thestrategic collaborator

  • Establishes and implements policies, standards, guidelines,technologyand procedures forprocuringmaterials and services, as directed by the Director of Operations

  • Manages current technology transfer and startup activity at the third-party facility.Ensuresthat thirdparty achievescommercial operations.

  • Maintains relationships with strategiccollaboratorto ensure good, reliable sources ofsupply and information.

  • Defines and builds relationships withcross-functional stakeholderstoleverageopportunities. Manage prospective improvements, corrective actions,validationsand manufacturing scale ups at the site.

  • Develops monthly metrics and data in support of detailed worldwide sales andorder Ensures documentation, training, configuration, testing, production promotions, archivingare in compliance withbusiness and regulatory policies.

  • Maintains awareness of current market trends and conditions that affect suppliers, the cost of goods,pricingand may have operational or strategic implications for the company.

  • Identifiesopportunities. Supervises the cost reduction efforts.

Experience and Key Competencies

  • Experience working in Manufacturing Operations, specifically in a GMP environment, isrequired

  • Medicaltechnologyexperience preferred. Experience in multiple disciplines of supply chain including External Operations, Manufacturing, Procurement, Distribution or Finance

  • Prior experience in managingsuppliers, andworking on supplier agreements ishighly preferred

  • Strong analytical/technical aptitude & competence, project managementskillsand prior experience leading cross-functional projects isrequired

  • The successful candidate will be a demonstrated self-starter with strong oral and written communication skills, comfortable communicating across functional levels.

  • Experience with Six Sigma/Process Excellence tools, training and/or certification is preferred.

  • Experience with the commercialization of new products is highly preferred.

  • Proficiency isrequiredforInternetand MS Office Suite. Prior knowledge of Advanced Planning systems such as ERP, MRP, and SAP is a plus.

The qualified candidate will have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree with at least5yearsfunctional related experience. MBA and APICS certification are desirable.
