Career Opportunity - Manager Operations

Our Canadian client, Sym-Tech Dealer Services, is seeking to recruit a qualified financial accountant to head its operations in Barbados. Reporting to the Canadian VP of Finance, the Manager Operations will be responsible for performance reporting, accounting, budgeting, financial planning and claims analysis. The Manager Operations will ensure the smooth functioning of day-to-day operations, lead and coach a team of three and will act as the interface between the business and various stakeholders.

The Role:
The Manager Operations will

• Manage the day-to-day operations of Sym-Tech Management Company (4 companies) in Barbados.
• Review, analyse and report on monthly/quarterly/year-end financials including dealer statements.
• Present materials for Board & Shareholder meetings.
• Ensure the management company meets all customer and local regulatory requirements and that operations are executed within the guidelines and By-Laws set by the Board.
• Document business disaster recovery process to support SLAs.
• Enhance business processes by analysing and creating workflows and documenting any change requests.
• Review/develop policy and procedural manuals for key business transactions.
• Develop, track and monitor KPls (e.g. Loss Ratios, Unearned Premiums, Performance dashboards).
• Review/approve claims and other cash disbursements including the approval of wire payments.
• Maintain all bank accounts in Barbados and manage banking relationships.
• Acquire knowledge of working systems and bring efficient and effective changes for better performance of claims systems, information and reporting requirements.
• Execute on ad-hoc projects as assigned by the management team.

The Candidate
The Manager Operations will possess:

• An accounting designation (CGA, ACCA, CPA) with at least 5-7 years’ post qualification experience in finance or accounting.
• Reinsurance and/or insurance experience would be an asset.
• Strong knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards.
• Experience in managing operations of multiple business entities.
• Leadership experience of a team of direct reports.
