GENERAL SUMMARY

The Manager of Transportation reports to the Adm. Director of Materials Management. The primary job function is to provide the leadership and management skills necessary to develop, implement, monitor, and coordinate the day to day administrative and operational tasks of the transportation departments.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

• High School Diploma or successful completion of an equivalent High School Exam Required

• Bachelor's Degree and/or equivalent experience required

Licensure:

• BMVL required (Must maintain eligibility to drive as determined by SOMC insurance carriers)

Experience:

• Two years previous supervisor experience preferred

JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

The following is a summary of the major job duties of this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.

1. Manages operations of all employees, including scheduling and responsible for vehicles of the Transportation Departments.

2. Maintains records, statistics, reports, and files for department.

3. Assists in the development, accomplishment and adherence to of annual budget, departmental goals, and departmental policies and procedures.

4. Prepares monthly reports for calculating volume, efficiency, and completing of strategic value dashboard.

5. Manages all Transportation Services personnel. Conducts interviews for potential staff members, hires staff members, conducts employee performance evaluations, manages departmental corrective action process, and assures proper completion of all required employee record keeping.

6. Acts as a liaison between Transportation and its customers to ensure that services provided meet or exceed customer expectation.

7. Oversees the electronic courier request system and ensures it is utilized to improve the department’s efficiency and accuracy.

8. Provides assistance to the couriers utilizing the Pharmacy and routing software delivering medications to the patient home.

9. Manages the acquisition, maintenance, and disposition of all fleet vehicles.

10. Assures compliance with all TJC, OSHA, federal, and state requirements.

11. Other duties as assigned.
