About the Role:
The Manager of Tax role will serve as the main point of contact for auditors and will lead audit strategy, responses, issue resolution, and assessment mitigation. The position will also support audit reserve management, related accounting entries, and other sales/transaction tax projects as needed.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage sales/transaction tax audits through all phases, from initial notice to final resolution
• Serve as the primary contact for auditors and lead audit meetings and communications
• Coordinate and respond to audit data requests, partnering with internal teams to gather required information
• Review and validate audit data for completeness and accuracy before submission
• Research tax laws and regulations to support company tax positions
• Work to minimize audit assessments and resolve identified issues
• Identify process gaps or errors discovered during audits and help implement corrective actions
• Determine audit reserve needs and maintain the audit/reserve tracker to support reserve balances and monitor audit status and exposure items
• Prepare monthly journal entries related to audit reserves and reconcile reserve accounts
• Keep management informed of audit developments, risks, and recommended actions
• Assist with other sales/transaction tax matters and special projects, including customer tax inquiries, billing migrations, and sales/transaction/use tax compliance
Qualifications
• Strong experience in sales/transaction tax, including audit management
• Solid working knowledge of accounting principles and audit reserve concepts
• Proficiency in:
◦ preparing journal entries
◦ reconciling general ledger accounts
◦ reviewing and interpreting general ledger activity
◦ understanding debits and credits
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with data analysis tools/applications
• Strong research, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
• Ability to communicate clearly and make informed recommendations to leadership
• Telecom tax experience is a plus, but not required
• Approximately 5+ years of relevant experience preferred

The starting compensation range for this job is $88,000 to $125,000. Our compensation approach is designed to be fair and competitive. Pay for this role is based on factors such as your experience, skills, education, and location.
