Job Description

The Division of Student Affairs seeks a Manager of Student Affairs to manage the operations of the Division and provide student support, serving as a visible ambassador of the institution, representing the division through a professional, organized, and service-oriented approach when working with students, families, faculty, and campus partners. This is an in-person on campus position.

Student Support and Advocacy (70%)

  • Develop and implement high impact initiatives that support student success and retention, particularly for first-year and high-risk student populations.
  • Develop proactive outreach strategies to support high-risk students and students of concern, connecting them with appropriate campus resources and coordinating follow-up to promote academic persistence.
  • Collaborate with campus partners on the CARE Team to identify students who may benefit from early intervention and ensure appropriate referral pathways are in place.
  • Supervise, mentor, and train student employees; establish clear expectations, provide ongoing coaching, and support their professional and leadership development.
  • Represent the department at university-wide events, activities, orientations, and institutional programs; assist in planning and staffing events that promote student engagement and campus community.
  • Serve as a hearing officer to uphold institutional policies related to student conduct and community standards.
  • Oversee the administration and response to the Student Affairs documented absence procedure; escalating student absence requests as appropriate.
  • Serve as a key resource for addressing student concerns, challenges, and barriers to success.
  • Serve as the point person for the Colleges of Fenway collaborating on programming opportunities.

Operation and Administrative Support (30%)

  • Oversee the administration of professional development processes for divisional staff, including coordinating requests, ensuring compliance with institutional guidelines, and tracking participation.
  • Review and process professional development requests and associated documentation, ensuring accuracy, appropriate approvals, and alignment with divisional priorities.
  • Collaborate on educational programs and workshops for the campus community on topics of bias related incidents and meet with students regarding complaints of incidents of bias.
  • Meet with students and provide support, solutions, and/or referrals as appropriate.
  • Prepare materials, presentations, and logistical support for institutional programs and initiatives where Student Affairs participation is required.
  • Participate in the departmental and divisional on-call rotation to respond to student-related concerns, incidents, and emergencies outside of regular business hours.
  • Serve on institutional committees and task forces.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, Social Work, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of progressively responsible experience in student affairs or student services.
  • Demonstrated experience in program development, student engagement, and supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of student development and best practices in higher education.
  • Experience managing budgets and departmental operations.

Physical Requirements:

  • Typical office or administrative working conditions. Staff is not exposed to adverse environmental conditions. Work is primarily sedentary in nature; there are no special physical demands.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 10 lbs.
  • Must be able to talk, listen, and speak clearly on telephone.
  • Work requires the ability to travel by car, air, and/or rail 100% of time locally
