About the role

Responsible for providing accounting services for the corporation and maintaining its financial records in compliance with all federal, state, local, and professional requirements by performing the following duties. The Principal Revenue Accountant reports to the Accounting Manager along with supporting the entire accounting team.

Key accountabilities

  • Develops a detailed knowledge of offtake contracts and revenue generated by RNG production
  • Create and maintain revenue workflow based on gas movement between both affiliate and joint venture (JV) entities.
  • Validate and record all Archaea margin uplift from T&S activity
  • Prepares, performs or reviews various journal entries to maintain the corporation’s books specifically for revenue and marketing activities.
  • Collaborate closely with BP’s Trading and Shipping (T&S) team to properly allocate revenue back to the production facilities
  • Manages the invoicing process of all RNG offtake to 3rd party counterparties that is completed by the Settlements Analyst
  • Currency conversion of 3rd party invoice settlements from CAD to USD and proper recording in the accounting system
  • Prepares and records monthly amortization related to above and below market revenue agreements
  • Review and record intercompany margin pass back
  • Review and assist with the calculation of royalty due to landfill gas right owners
  • Reviews and/or enters appropriate data into accounting system on a daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly basis including accounts receivable and provides additional coding for accounts payable.
  • Prepares and analyzes all financial reports as required to comply with internal and external reporting requirements.
  • Reviews and reconciles general ledger accounts assigned on a monthly basis.
  • Assists in compiling year-end reports in a timely manner.
  • Applies knowledge of accounting principles on a regular basis.
  • Review monthly intercompany elimination entries, as applicable.
  • Researches and responds to accounting issues on a timely basis.
  • Mentors and develops other company wide colleagues’ revenue recognition and accounting treatment of 3rd party arrangements.
  • Manage accounting for landfill sites, including tracking from acquisition, construction, capitalization, revenue/expense/royalty recognition, depreciation, and eventual retirement.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Essential education

  • B.S. in Accounting

Essential experience

  • 10-15 years of prior accounting experience in the energy industry required, preferably in revenue accounting or marketing accounting with a focus in renewable energy
  • Ability to administer Intercompany and 3 Party sales contracts
  • Advanced knowledge of financial, accounting and business practices
  • Advanced computer skills: Excel, PowerPoint, Word and various accounting systems
  • Must be effective in working both independently and in a team setting
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and time management skills
  • Drug test and background check required.

How much do we pay? $110,000 - $157,000. *Note that the pay range listed for this position is a genuinely expected and reasonable estimate of the range of possible base compensation at the time of posting.

This position offers paid vacation depending on your years of relevant industry experience and will range from 120 – 240 hours of vacation per year for full times employees (60 - 240 hours of vacation per year for part time employees). You will also be eligible for 9 paid holidays per year and 2 personal choice holidays.
