Job Description
The Manager of Quality Assurance – Radiological Test (RT) is responsible for providing management oversight to Quality Assurance RT activities at the Groton shipyard. This position reports directly to the Director of Quality and Special Emphasis Programs. This position will be responsible for an organization of 50+ people and operates primarily on 3rd shift.
Scope of work for this position includes:
- Ensuring the operation of the organization supports all Groton Shipyard programs (CLB, VA, EOH, etc.)
- Assuring that all RT personnel are properly trained and certified to perform their job functions safely and correctly.
- Manage all RT personnel certification time-to-talent pathways
- Investigating and implementing industry best practice RT methods into the shipyard to maximize simultaneous trade and RT work opportunities
- Manage department direct charge contract cost performance meeting program/department budget and EAC objectives
- Manage department annual overhead performance and future planning
- Coordinate closely with the Electric Boat Radation Protection Organization (RPO) on a daily basis
Functional responsibilities related to Quality Assurance RT include:
- Ensuring all radiographers have the necessary training, documents, procedures, and tools to properly perform radiological testing and oversight of completed trade work.
- Ensuring all RT test documentation is completed in accordance with procedural requirements.
- Maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders to communicate RT results.
The Manager of Quality Assurance for RT will be required to manage effective teams deployed to multiple shipyard sites simultaneously. This position is required to understand data to communicate information that drives business decisions, and develop employees at all levels of the organization. The successful candidate should demonstrate the highest level of integrity and should have both experience and a working knowledge of Shipyard quality assurance processes and electronic applications, supervisory or project management experience, and a track record of proven results.
Qualifications
Required:
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience at Electric Boat and at least 3 years of Supervisory/General Foreman experience in either EB Inspection, Radiography, Operations, or Engineering Organizations
- Demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate supervision , salary, and hourly personnel
- Must be able to fully understand and interpret company policies and procedures
- Demonstrated computer proficiency in MS Office Suite and Electric Boat Business Systems (e.g. ERS, Business Objects, etc.)
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance through the department of defense
Preferred:
- BS degree in engineering is preferred
- Experience in Radiological Test Quality Assurance both in New Construction or Maintenance and Modernization
- Experience working in or with Quality Assurance, Operations, Ship’s Management and Engineering
- Experience with New Construction and Maintenance and Modernization business systems and Earned Value Management System.
- Experience working with EB legacy systems (2R, MQS, MRP, ELCADD, JCALS, SWSS/ERS, CPJ)
- Proficiency with 2D drawings and/or Teamcenter model products
