Role: Manager of Physical Therapy
Location: Mountain View Medical Center

Schedule: Day Shift Hours



The Manager, Physical Therapy is responsible for supervising and managing the full range of therapy services including; Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy for children and adults in all settings. The Manager will work closely with administration and physicians in planning and implementing an effective program which can be highly utilized and financially productive.

Essential Functions

  • Provides patient assessments and ensures documentation is completed per policy and data recorded in appropriate areas in the patient medical record across diverse patient populations.
  • Ensures short and long term goals are documented with objective measures and time frames, and outcomes are documented according to objectively written goals.
  • Provides therapy interventions are selected based on assessment results and are appropriate for age, cognition and or development of the patient, with regards to interdisciplinary team plan.
  • Demonstrates understanding of contraindications and precautions with applications of modalities based on patients age and associated risks.
  • Consults physician regarding referrals for other services, or any problems associated with patient progress or lack of progress.
  • Utilizes AIDET principles with patients and staff on a consistent basis.
  • Coordinates therapeutic activities with other team members and departments to maximize patient’s response to therapy.
  • Integrates patient/family in discharge planning and education for a safe transition to home, including ensured continued care needs are met.
  • Demonstrates respect for patient rights by maintaining confidentiality and serving as a patient advocate.
  • Provides services with respect to human dignity and the uniqueness of the client, unrestricted by consideration of social or economic status, personal attributes, or nature of the health problem.
  • Demonstrates a complete knowledge of the correct use of all forms/computer skills required in the day-to-day operation of specific unit.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Supervision and Staff Management
    • Provides leadership, mentorship and professional development opportunities for departmental staff.
    • Schedules employees to ensure effective use of resources. Consults with Director on staffing issues.
    • Conducts performance evaluations, sets goals and provides feedback to staff on their performance and development.
  • Strategic Planning and Financial Oversight
    • Develops and manages departmental budget ensuring cost effective operations while maintaining high quality service.
    • Monitors expenditures, ensuring cost-effective delivery of services.
    • Evaluates and implements new technologies to enhance operational efficiency.
    • Develops and implements departmental policies and procedures and protocols to optimize quality and overall efficiencies.
  • Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance
    • Ensures compliance with all relevant regulatory bodies. May oversee the accreditation process with relevant agencies ensuring that services meet or exceed industry standards.
    • Participates in audits, inspections and accreditation processes as applicable.
    • Follows established quality control practices to ensure accuracy, consistency and safety.
  • Collaboration and Communication
    • Works closely with leadership teams to coordinate and improve service delivery.
    • Stays up-to-date with industry advancements, new technologies, and regulatory changes.
  • Staff Responsibilities
    • May work in a staff role, when required. Ensures that duties and responsibilities are fulfilled while meeting all competencies established for that job.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy or Speech Therapy required
  • Master's Degree preferred
  • 2-4 years of experience in closely related field with Bachelor's degree required
  • 2-4 years of previous leadership experience preferred

  • Proficiency with Google and Microsoft platforms, healthcare software systems, and data analysis tools.

Licenses and Certifications

  • PT - Physical Therapist license in state of employment required or
  • OT - Occupational Therapist – Registered license in state of employment required or
  • SLP - Speech Language Pathologist license in state of employment required
  • BLS - Basic Life Support obtained within 30 days of hire required
