POSITION SUMMARY:

The Manager of Loss Prevention is responsible for leading Goodwill of Southwestern Pennsylvania’s Loss Prevention program to protect the organization’s people, merchandise, financial assets, facilities, and brand. The position develops and oversees loss prevention strategies, investigations, audit programs, training initiatives, and operational compliance while providing leadership and direction to the Loss Prevention Specialist. The Manager also supervises onsite Security/Reception team and will be required to perform operational duties as needed.

The manager partners closely with Retail Operations, Distribution, People Services, Safety, and Finance to reduce shrink, strengthen internal controls, improve operational consistency, and foster a culture of accountability across all retail stores, donation centers, program sites, warehouses, and administrative locations.

This position requires travel in Allegheny county and surrounding areas, and a majority of the incumbents time will be spent meeting providing job coaching and creating employment opportunities out in the community. Consistent access to a reliable vehicle, and valid drivers license, are required for this role.

Status: Regular, Full-time, Exempt.

Location: Lawrenceville Workforce Development Center, 118 52nd St, Pittsburgh, PA 15201.

External Hiring Range: $72,000 - $75,000/year

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

Travel: Travel within Goodwill SWPA territories for participant support is required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Included but not limited to:

Operations – Training and Operational Support:

  • Lead the department’s training operations including but not limited to identifying training needs and deficits, ensuring managers understand loss prevention expectations, and administering loss prevention training.
  • Provide guidance and support to the organization’s retail division during new store openings and remodels.
  • Lead complex internal theft, fraud, misconduct, and financial investigations ensuring legal and company guidelines. Develop evidence-based conclusions, prepare and present reports, and offer evidence-based solutions.
  • Monitor incidents and risk indicators, identify trends, and recommend systemic solutions and corrective actions.

Leadership: Loss Prevention:

  • Develop annual department goals aligned with organizational objectives. Conduct performance evaluations and ongoing coaching.
  • Oversee administrative procedures and related organizational policies, establishing department priorities and allocating work.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop the Loss Prevention Specialist.

Retail Loss Prevention:

  • Oversee CCTV, access control, alarms, and LP technology, recommend and coordinate security improvements and evaluate emerging asset protection technologies.
  • Identify and address issues of merchandise shrink including analyzing trends and operational losses and developing strategies to eliminate its root-causes.
  • Conduct regular operational audits, measure performance on specified performance indicators, prepare and present reports, and identify process improvements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Years of Experience:

  • High School Diploma and Equivalent AND 8+ years of relevant experience. OR
  • Associate's degree in Criminal Justice, Business/Management, Security Management, loss Prevention, or
  • related field AND 6+ years of relevant experience. OR
  • Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Business/Management, Security Management AND 5+ years of relevant experience.

Required:

  • Minimum of five years of progressively responsible in retail loss prevention, asset protection, investigations, security, retail operations, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of three years of supervisory, team-lead, or program-leadership experience.
  • Experience using CCTV, alarm, access-control, casemanagement, or other loss prevention technology.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting internal theft, fraud, misconduct, and financial investigations, including interviewing employees and witnesses, preparing investigative reports, maintaining confidential case files, and presenting evidence-based findings.

REQUIRED CLEARANCES, LICENSES, AND CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Candidates are expected to complete background checks assigned by Goodwill SWPA, including a National Criminal Background check, prior to their first day of employment.
  • Candidates are expected to provide current, valid clearances (Child Abuse Clearance, FBI Fingerprints Clearance, and PATCH) prior to their first day of employment.
