Job Description

The Manager of Finance is responsible for managing and leading the Corporate Finance Department’s Senior Financial Analyst(s) and Financial Analyst(s), including financial planning and analysis; which includes corporate forecasting, earnings guidance, budgeting, modeling, and debt compliance. This role serves as a primary owner of executive decision support, ensuring forecasts and recommendations are accurate, consistent, and actionable.

In addition, the Manager of Finance will be directly involved in all capital market transactions through scenario analysis, required interaction with investment and commercial banking professionals, and interaction with Executive Management. This includes supporting capital allocation decisions, earnings guidance integrity, and communication with senior leadership.

This position will maintain and manage relationships, acting as a liaison of the Finance Department, by interacting with other Department Heads so that information flow to and from these departments is accurate and timely. This interaction is critical to ensuring alignment across Accounting, Treasury, FP&A, Investments, Development, and Operations, and that timely and relevant information is reflected in forecasts and models provided to Executive Management.

Essential Functions

  • Oversee and ensure timely and accurate delivery of the quarterly earnings supplement

  • Oversee and ensure timely and accurate delivery to VP-Finance the quarterly reporting and projections that assist Executive Management during earnings release and board meetings

  • Review, challenge, and elevate analytical assumptions to ensure consistency, rigor, and decision grade outputs

  • Utilize, train, and develop Analyst staff

  • Establish best practices and analytical standards for forecasting, modeling, and scenario analysis

  • Manage and maintain PBCS functionality through monthly updates and testing

  • Utilize resources outside department to more efficiently gather and use data

  • Identify, design, and implement AI enabled and automation solutions to reduce manual effort, improve data accuracy, and accelerate analysis

  • Continuously evaluate and improve finance processes with a focus on efficiency, scalability, and analytical capacity

  • Identify, design, and implement AI-enabled business solutions to automate routine tasks

  • Oversee and ensure the accuracy of analysis performed on the financial impact of potential transactions such as joint ventures, stock and debt issuances, property sales or purchases, etc

  • Deputize Analyst(s) to prepare operational budgets and facilitate budget workshops for operations team, including Division and Regional Vice Presidents, Regional Managers, District Managers, and Community Managers

  • Oversee and perform advanced financial and trend analysis in order to forecast future performance expectations

  • Oversee and perform monthly budget variance analysis in an attempt to identify trends and improve the overall budgeting and forecasting processes

  • Deputize Analyst(s) to maintain acquisition and development models, working closely with transaction teams and reviewing deals for accuracy

  • Oversee and ensure timely and accurate delivery of the quarterly development reconciliations

  • Oversee and ensure timely and accurate delivery of all monthly, quarterly and annual bank compliance

  • Miscellaneous analysis and special projects for Executive Management

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree with concentration in Finance or Accounting required

  • 5-10 years of experience in finance/accounting required

  • Must have a customer focused attitude and team-player mentality

  • Requires strong knowledge of Excel spreadsheets and financial statements

  • Prior experience with Oracle’s Essbase/PBCS system is preferred

  • Experience in Real Estate or Multifamily industry preferred

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook required

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, exercise sound financial judgment, and operate effectively in a fast paced, deadline driven environment
