The Department of Family and Community Medicine is looking to hire a Manager, Nursing for its clinical private practice, located in the River Oaks Clinic, who will supervise clinical employees. Will also work with departmental and clinical leadership. This position will share responsibility for the daily coordination of patient care and clinical skills of medical assistants along with managerial and administrative duties as assigned. This includes contributing to process improvement and collaborating with the medical home team.

The ideal candidate will have excellent computer skills (MS PowerPoint, Excel, and Word), demonstrated interpersonal relationship skills, written and verbal communication skills in English, and ability to work in a fast paced medical office environment. Will have problem solving skills, ability to participate in collaborative decision making, critical thinking skills, and ability to assist in conflict resolution. Additionally, must be a team player and demonstrate commitment to clinical care.

Job Duties

• Manages time and attendance for seven Medical Assistants (MAs) at the Baylor Family Medicine River Oaks Clinic, including oversight and delegation of clinical activities as needed.
• Tracks MA competencies and support leadership with MA evaluations and recruitment.
• Receives, manages, and resolves patient complaints for the River Oaks Family Medicine Clinic.
• Ensures professionalism and appropriate clinic etiquette are consistently followed to foster a positive clinic environment.
• Addresses and manages interoffice conflict in collaboration with clinic leadership.
• Manages faculty and staff requests, including same-day provider changes such as schedule adjustments, call-ins, and coverage needs.
• Serves as the primary point of contact for laboratory vendor issues, including notification and follow-up of critical or abnormal results.
• Oversees incident reporting, conduct root cause analyses, and support the implementation of quality-assurance processes, including communication and documentation.
• Attends all relevant meetings as required and as directed by leadership and the College.
• Collaborates closely with the Director of Clinic Operations and department Human Resources on disciplinary matters and provide staff coaching and performance support.
• Coordinates and facilitates the onboarding and offboarding of new faculty and staff at Baylor Clinic.
• Under the general supervision of the clinic leadership, performs direct and indirect nursing activities in accordance with BCM policies and departmental guidelines.
• Monitors and manages clinic medical equipment and supplies, including medications, vaccines, and equipment maintenance needs.
• Develops clinic schedules in collaboration with BFM departmental RNs and addresses staffing shortages to ensure adequate clinic coverage.
• Ensures clinics start on time and proactively identify and address workflow barriers to optimize operations.
• Instructs, trains, and evaluates Medical Assistants’ clinical competencies to maintain clinic flow, updates triage protocols, trains staff on new protocols, and monitors patient message workflows.
• Ensures Medical Assistants comply with all clinical and laboratory protocols, as well as established policies and procedures.
• Supports clinic leadership in implementing quality-assurance initiatives to improve the quality of patient care.
• Provides care coordination, under medical management supervision, for identified patient populations.
• Provides direct nursing care as needed, including preparing patients for provider visits by obtaining and documenting vital signs, reviewing and updating medical records, assisting with routine physical examinations, and supporting providers during visits.
• Performs selected screening tests, administer oral and intramuscular medications, and conduct point-of-care testing (POCT) as needed based on staffing availability.
• Co-facilitates standing process improvement meetings with the clinic Medical Director to optimize provider-MA dyad communication and performance.
• Assists in processing and ordering clinic supplies.
• Monitors for appropriate inventory levels.
• Ensures proper logs are updated and maintained.
• Identifies and notifies appropriate source for any clinic maintenance or any necessary equipment repairs.
• Serves as a BFM clinical representative on intradepartmental meetings.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
• Four years of relevant experience as a licensed Registered Nurse (RN).
• Current license as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the State of Texas Board of Nursing.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association.

Preferred Qualifications

• Epic experience.
• Clinical oversight experience.
