Administers and coordinates technical activities, educational programs, techniques and operational standards related to the operation of a specialized Magnetic Resonance Imaging Services. Assists with the development interpretation, and application of MRI departments within Prisma Health on aspects of MRI and 3D images. within Prisma Health and other contracted entities. Responsible for quality assurance and process improvement functions pertaining to MRI. The manager is also responsible for all administrative tasks such as preparing budgets, responding to all administrative questions regarding departmental operation, revenue and usage reconciliation charges, capital equipment justifications and recommends purchases, maintaining adequate files and records in accordance with the state and federal regulations and keeps abreast of Prisma Health policies and procedures. Responsible for staff in-service and MRI safety along with coordination of activities necessary for licensure and accreditation of assigned areas. Initiate MRI accreditation every three years or as necessary for DPH regulation.

Implements and maintains the technical operations of assigned departments. Implements, and monitors practice guidelines for department based on current research, best practices, and promoting customer satisfaction.
Assists in planning of new MRI 3D/perfusion imaging services, new equipment and modification to existing equipment. Is responsible for the proper care and use of equipment and materials.
Performs functions of staff assignments. Meets expectations of position description for staffing in field of certification.
Promotes patient care and safety within the MRI department. Is responsible for the smooth flow of patient traffic.
Works with various departments to ensure good employee, physician and managerial relationships. Acts as a liaison between the department and the other departments within Prisma Health and Outpatient Services. Solves personnel problems with related areas.
Works with staff technologist in areas of need due to shortages, FMLA, PTO and sick time. Informs patients and families of all delays, (including calling inpatients room when procedure is delayed more than 1 hour)
Assists in the planning, organizing and directing activities of department. Acts as resource to Director for policy formation, charge structure and procedure development as related to departmental operations.
Acts as a liaison between the department and the other departments within hospital and outpatient services. Assists Director of Imaging Services in evaluating and counselling technical and clinical employees regarding performance, conduct, attendance and other related matters. Reviews employee evaluations together with Director of Imaging Services. Maintains good employee relations. Informs Director of Imaging Services of any potential problems or needs that relate to operations or personnel.
Reviews accident reports, incident reports and unusual occurrences with Director of Imaging Services and takes corrective action as required.
Recommends equipment changes and updates to existing equipment, room design and layout.
Communicates with PACS Coordinator to ensure imaging and databases perform consistently.
Coordinates delivery of patient care in collaboration with appropriate health team members to assure that the patient's physical, emotional, psychosocial, cultural and spiritual needs are met.
Develops and monitor budgeted funds. Assist in the determination of fiscal requirements and preparation of budgetary recommendations; monitor, verify, and reconcile expenditures of budgeted funds.
Compiles and prepares reports and analyses setting forth progress, adverse trends, and appropriate recommendations or conclusions.
Develops and implements performance improvement activities.
Develops, implements and maintains an MRI imaging service training program. This training program would be to train selected technologists within the organization.
Reviews and monitors staffing levels and productivity.
Evaluates clinical practice in the MRI department and review clinical records (using the quality assurance critique form) to ensure standards of care and quality services are provided in accordance with Medicare, Medicaid, and Joint Commission. Keep up to date on regulatory issues as they relate to Medicare, Medicaid, and Joint Commission.
Develops and implements performance improvement activities.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory/Management Responsibilities
Job has direct and/or indirect supervision of team members that may include final budget authority, hire/termination authority, performance appraisal responsibility and disciplinary authority. Job will be considered a member of management staff at Prisma Health or affiliate and will have direct reports.
Minimum Requirements
Education - Associate degree. Completion of accredited radiology program. Bachelor's degree preferred.
Experience - Five (5) years of experience in MRI. Previous supervisory experience, cardiac experience and/or functional MRI experience preferred
